Gig ticket prices

Gig prices have soared loads since post Covid.

I bought 2 x Gaslight Anthem tickets for £100 last year. More than double vs. when I first started seeing them but still reasonable compared to modern prices.

I was going to buy Slipknot tickets at the end of last year but they were the best part of £200 for 2 after fees. For a band I’ve liked and been to see since I was a teenager, it just felt a little steep. By the time I added in accommodation and travel I would have been looking at the thick end of £700 + spends.

Some of the big main stream artists prices are eye watering. I’d rather spend the money on.a festival.

Interesting article on the BBC about people saving money for big events rather than going out regular. That probably plays a part too.

I think the whole industry has fans over a barrel. Whilst there’s still enough people to snap up tickets and sell gigs out, they’ll keep inflating prices.

Told the mrs not to bother as it was extortionate. Part of the problem was she invested so much time and energy logging in with multiple devices and queuing with 300k in front of her, and as mentioned, wanted to treat the daughter, we bit the bullet and went for it as it would’ve been disappointing for her not to achieve what she set out for.
We could’ve had a nice few days away together for same price. Prices are insane!
