I agree we need more competition but it’s hardly Hamilton’s fault red bull and Ferrari are so bad
I’ve never said it was but there has been no competition in the hybrid era that is a sad state of affairs that rule change has all but given the title to Mercedes and with nothing likely to change until the new regulations in 2022.

That means that they will have won every year of the hybrid era.

That can’t be healthy for any sport.

No it's not healthy for the sport but you can't blame Mercedes or Hamilton for that which is what you do, directly or indirectly. They have no advantage over the other teams other than they have developed an offering that is better than that of the other teams.

You really need to get over it Zorro.

That’s the point they can’t now as in season testing has been removed so yes cars improve over a season you don’t see the massive improvements you used to.

So basically what you see at Melbourne is pretty much it for the season as we’ve seen with Ferrari they fked up the winter and never recovered.
What happened when the improved mid season?

Exactly he won 4 but he was not the goat either as they said on sky had vettel gone to Mercedes he’d prob have 7 titles as well.

You can’t compare different eras is my point
Ok, on that basis I will agree that Hamilton is not the GOAT, if you agree that none of Fangio, Senna or M Schumacher is either.

Yes I do agree

I think Senna had the potential to be so and to me personally he will always be the greatest but sadly that awful day at imola robbed the world of his talent so we’ll never know how good he could have been historically.

I just don’t think you can’t compare eras.

Hamilton could win the F1 championship in a Ford Fiesta and Zorro would point out he couldn’t do it on a 50cc quad bike.

In the past you would see pretty much complete cars evolve as they could test and rest but now such huge developments are not worth the risk and they are more likely to abandon developing this years cartoon concentrate on next years. Basically writing the season
Off as we have seen with Ferrari this year.

Fair enough zorro (y)

Senna was a true great, who didn't get the chance to go on and set the numbers for others to challenge.

Schumacher was a true great, who did get the chance to set those numbers in a dominant Ferrari.

Hamilton is also a true great, who has gone on to surpass Schumacher in a dominant Mercedes.

As with Pele, Maradona and Ronaldo/Messi, it doesn't really matter who is the GOAT and that can only really be down to personal opinion.

I do think though that for the good of F1 the sports needs a competitive Ferrari. This year has been an embarrassment for the scuderia. They need to stop teams exploiting rules as with DAS this year to create gaps others can’t overcome.

Time to make it a drivers championship again not mechanics designers one. Also the safety car should be last resort as we rarely saw it when it first started now it’s out every week for minor things.

Seeing races ended under full yellow safety cars is just a joke F1 needs to get the racing back.

We need a drivers championship a rivalry a battle for supremacy

as jenson says with bottas as his team mate Hamilton has no real rival of note. I’m still amazed bottas has never once collided with Lewis or crashed into him to show him he’s no push over.

The safety of those racing/working should never be compromised for our entertainment, the sport is going in the right direction safety wise, the last thing anyone needs is for those rules to be relaxed.

How do you propose making it a drivers championship?

Edit: clever design has been an integral part of the sport at least since I started watching in the 80s.

Who was the better driver prior to F1 Norris or Russell?

Irvine never got anywhere near Schmacher when he got the Ferrari no.2 seat

I can never make up my mind to just laugh at this F1 twaddle or to call it out for what it is.
Maybe people just like to associate themselves with the F1 driver lifestyle in the belief that it reflects their own lifestyle.
And for some reason they like or dislike one driver or another, which I can only presume is based on what they say outside the car. Or is it the way they drive around a corner ?

I wonder who is the best Red arrows pilot. I think its David Simmonds. His jet is no better than any of the rest. But he consistently puts in great barrel loops.
And his dog eats meat.

DAS has never won a race never mind a Championship.

Last season nobody knew the full extent of Ferrari cheating but it didn't help them much anyway.

Zorro hates Lewis.

he know full well the ridiculousness of the “only because he’s in the best car” argument is one usually peddled by those who don’t understand the sport. He uses it as a stick to bash Lewis regardless. Very sad.
Shame he can’t acknowledge a bona fide talent. I British driver genuinely competing to be called the greatest of all time.

I’m not saying don’t use safety cars but as we now have the virtual one that should be used more often esp for minor things. Seeing any race end under a safety car is just pointless. In my opinion.
