How have you reacted when a straight-acting homosexual man uses the public toilet?
Do you assume that because of their sexuality they would be a perceived threat to you?
Who is at more risk in that instance?

They’re not the same thing Roofie, and you know it. Men who have gone through male puberty have a major size and strength advantage over women. If a man attacked me I’d have a chance of fighting them off or overpowering them. A woman would have next to no chance of fighting a man off.

And it’s not just about sexual assaults, it’s about a woman’s right to privacy and not to feel uncomfortable.

Just to address this point. It is a major issue because to me and you, and a whole lot of other people, we know that this person claimed to be trans so they could go to a women’s prison. However, what you’ve stated in this part of your post will see you classed as being transphobic. There are people saying that he should still be referred to as a woman. The whole concept of self ID is ‘acceptance without question’, if he says he’s a woman, then he’s a woman. That’s why something as straightforward as this is a major issue. 👍🏻

That’s this bit that I think is pure culture war. I think most people wouldn’t see that as transphobic. The minority that do think it’s transphobia get plastered over the front pages of the Mail as evidence of ‘wokeness’ and then scumbags like Piers Morgan make full shows about it. In real life most people just think a rapist with a penis going into a female jail is crackers and sense prevailed.

What about a woman who transitions to a man?
Does he not have the right to "privacy"?
The concept of masculinity is completely misconstrued.
You focus on male to female transitions, which fits in neatly with a particular narrative around sexuality.
Transitioning isnt about "rape" and "sexual assault" anymore than heterosexuals [particularly males] are prone to domestic violence and rape.

I`m going to leave it there for tonight.

Nurses, Male and Female, work intimately with patients to care for them.
Do you object to Nurses of the opposite sex caring for patients of the opposite sex?
Should there be different hospitals for male and female patients?
Should female nurses only be allowed to work with female patients?
Gets complicated doesnt it.

I note you have not engaged with the point about carers. Nurses as part of the NHS do not fall under the social care act. Do you feel a individual in social care has no right to choose the sex of their carer? The answer is the social care act x equalities law provides the service user that right.

Hospitals do have male and females spaces. Upheld by equalities law. New guidance on single sex accommodation in the NHS was issued last year.

Do I object to nurses of the opposite sex caring for caring for patients of the opposite sex? As an ex male nurse, yes if the patient objects. Best practice would be to provide the care the patient wants, best practice is person centred.

The NHS exists to look after patients. Some females will be scared or embarrassed about having intimate procedures performed by a male, which is why women frequently ask for a female doctor or nurse.

Seriously do you think sick and scared people, including people who have been sexually assaulted have their right to informed consent removed? No. Patient care is dependant on the patients wishes, their dignity and privacy comes first with their trust.

That is not complicated.

A woman transitioning to a man would be welcomed into the women’s toilets, as she is still a biological woman. She may use the men’s toilets if she so wishes but I certainly wouldn’t recommend she does. And in a similar vein I can see why transwomen wouldn’t want to use the men’s toilets either, because there are some very intolerant d*ckheads around, however that shouldn’t mean that women’s privacy should be at risk to accommodate transwomen. There needs to be very harsh punishments for men who assault transwomen in men’s spaces.

Enjoy your tea. 👍🏻

You have deliberately avoided answering the points I raised.
Its a simple question really.
There are no caveats and my views on the subject have nothing to do with the points made.
The Social Care Act has nothing to do with the question.
Choice and consent are obviously crucial.
My questions were based on your previous assertions about gender.
Its not complicated.

No, I did not deliberately avoid answering the points in your post. The social care act was relevant to the post you answered.

Gender is NOT a protected characteristic. Sex is. Yes, rights to consent and choice are crucial. Patients have sex-based rights.

I didnt say gender was a protected characteristic.
The Social Care Act is not relevant to my questions.
You know as well as me that mixed sex Nurses work on female and male wards.
The question was, in relation to your assertions about gender, do you consider that permissable?
Its not complicated.
If you cant profer a simple answer, then dont.
Goodnight.

I have already answered your post.

Wards can have male and female staff. This does not mean an individual cannot have care from somebody of the same sex. Best practice is providing the care a patient wants.

These are is not hypothetical scenarios. Its a everyday reality.

Do you think a female victim of sexual crime should have to be supported by a male nurse providing intimate care?

Do you think a female patient should have no right to choose who provides them with care, or right to know what sex they are?

Its a simple straight-forward question.
What I think about victims of crime isnt relevant.
I`ve already mentioned consent - if you read carefully.
Its clear this is going nowhere, so we will leave it there.

If you are born with both male and female sexual organs you are either male or female, not both, or neither. Only one set of sexual organs ‘work’, there are no instances of both sets of sexual organs working.
So you could be born female on the inside (working) and a non functioning male appendage on the outside..

I’m guessing you would say that is a man?

No, if you have a functioning female reproductive system (you produce eggs) and a non-working male reproductive system (you don’t produce sperm) you’re a woman, and vice versa. Even people who have no functioning reproductive organs, but still have a penis or a vagina, or both, are still either male or female depending on their chromosomes. 👍🏻

It what would be their gender?

Their sex would be female, and their gender? Who knows how gender works? But they could be any one of these, or something different, who knows? 🤷🏻‍♂️

They are over a billion genders. Everyone. Can identify as they see fit. If you want to be a demon...you can. Wait how does that work in court though?

In relation to care and medical services sexual crime is a consideration. Service users (patients) who are victims of sexual crime can require alternative care, supervision or attention.

Absolutely awful. A few of my daughters friends are trans (transitioning both ways). I feel for them so much. It's amazing that they feel they can be open that that the body they were born into isn't one they feel is their's. But the predudice and fear must be overwhelming. One has attempted to take their own life. They don;t need people doing it for them.
