GE to be called...surely?

Where is Keir Starmer?
To be fair Starmer is playing an absolute blinder. Stay in the shadows and let them tear themselves apart. When the time comes to really stand on their throat he will. Don’t forget before politics he was a highly successful prosecution barrister, so will know from experience the value of waiting for the right time to really press home an advantage.

People have said this about him time and again. This should be where he makes himself the face of the opposition, not just in a political sense but a moral sense as well. He should calling this out at every single opportunity, making sure people associate him with reason, opposition, morality. Instead he’s consistently nowhere to be seen.

There’s a vacuum in terms of leadership at the moment. If he doesn’t step in and fill it then the right wing will, and they’ll say and do whatever it takes. It’s no good ‘biding your time’ and waiting another week, month, year.

The country is absolutely f*cked. He needs to make sure people know he’s on their side and is going to be standing up for them every single day until this sh*tshow is brought to an end. As I say, the right wing won’t hesitate to fill that vacuum.

Personally I think he’s playing a dangerous game.

when the opposition - Tories - are shooting themselves in the foot, planting pies in their faces & generally making a complete pigs ear of everything they touch, do & say.. let them have the stage.. no point taking prime time away from them..

My point is that there’s a vacuum. There’s no leadership, authority, no mandate. This is much, much worse now than the Queen has passed away and the Monarchy is weakened. There’s a massive space where a leader or figurehead should be. You can’t just sit back and wait because it might be too late by the time you want to speak up. The right won’t hesitate to step in and steal and pollute that huge vacuum.

There is no way that there can't be a general election now. The Tories are a disgrace and are lurching from one shockingly bad government to the next.

Both Johnson and May called elections have taken over as Tory Leader and PM. Truss has to do the same. They'll get totally wiped out hopefully.

They are clinging on with their noses firmly planted in the HoC trough, eeking out every last minute 'they are entitled' too.
Then, into the wilderness and back to the C*** farm, for the lot of them. Some retirement do's in the offing for this current clutch of rsoles.

What an absolute slug - quite possible the poorest "press conference" you're ever likely to see.

Took 5 questions from a room full of journalists, she won't be here at Christmas. That was horrendous.

The best part was the use of the term "in the interest of the British public". The British public want a GE - out of touch yet again.

2 thirds of HOC have to be in favour of a GE before the statutory 5 years is up so it isn't going to happen

Starmer has called for a general election which is what everyone should be demanding

Either the press, unions, public via protests or even Tories themselves could bring this government down any minute 🤞
Government is an absolute shambles, we must have a General Election. I’m 54, never in my lifetime have we needed an election like we do now.

I can't believe people are criticising Starmer. Based on current polls Labour would smash the Tories at the next election - this was unimaginable 2 years ago. He's done a cracking job of letting the Tories hang themselves in public.
starmer just stays in the backgroung and says little !!!!he should be all over the tories, they are making a very easy target of themselves which starmer should be all over it.

He has no history of doing that so far. He’s had plenty of opportunity to slaughter Boris in the past, he lost out to Boris every time.

It should be like shooting fish in a barrel for Labour right now.
