Gary Lineker being reined in

I have never understood in this day and age of subscription tv why we are forced to pay for a tv licence. Barring the odd motd i never watch the bbc. But pay more for that than I do Netflix etc. surely this has to change.
That will be the headline in the Daily Heil tomorrow. All going to plan.

The BBC used to be a national treasure. I've always defended it, probably for years longer than I should have. But it's gone, it's done, we've lost it.
Felt wrong clicking "like" for that, but it's exactly how I feel too. I love the concept of an independent, respected broadcaster, free from the conflicts of satisfying commercial sponsors. But that's not what the BBC is any more.

Ive never watched MOTD for ages, to be honest I preferred Jimmy Hill. I cant stand the drivel these pundits come up with. Rather just watch the footy. I might just tune in on Saturday to see what happens.

My complaint to the BBC is in and acknowledged.

I'm all in on this also:

Gary Lineker is a citizen of this country and has every right to his views on the government. He does not work in news and politics and therefore does not have to abide but any rules about political neutrality. His comments haven't brought the BBC into disrepute either and would appear factually correct.

This is an attempt by the heads of the BBC to silence opposition to the government, which is a) against Gary's right to freedom of speech, b) an abuse of position by the heads of the BBC, c) a breach of political neutrality by the heads of the BBC, d) without precedent, and e) hypocritical in that many other BBC presenters have not been removed from air despite their public comments being opinion based not factual.

The blatant political bias of this decision to effectively unilateral suspend Gary Lineker from his role is a breach of political neutrality and as well as this complaint there will be an accompanying one sent to Ofcom.

Whose fault is that?
