Gareth Southgate's strong message after some supporters booed when England players take the knee [Gazette]

It's absolutely divide and conquer, I've said this for a long time. Brexit was just this, the perpetuation of racism is just this, the demonisation of immigrants is this and the glorifcation of our war heroes without context is just this.
As long as the working people of the country fight amongst themselves, Johnson and Rees-Mogg are laughing all the way to their off shore bank accounts.

Such sins are mostly those of our ruling class (who ironically we keep electing).
absolutely this. We invaded and pilaged and enslaved for the benefit of the elite, very often at the cost of working class lives, be it scurvy on a ship, summery justice by the captain for daring to ask for better conditions, or working in England in slums with no sanitation. Or acting as enforces in the armed forces fighting for 'king and country' which is code for being the suckers that die for the profiteering of the royals and the landed gentry. Our boys got shot and stabbed so that we could gain lands to prop up the elites coffers.

We the working classes have far far more in common with the subjugated in far off lands, we were dispensable and treated second rate, maybe not to the extremes of africans or indians, but still exploited and paid with lives.

It's about time our working classes educated themselves on how we were sent to kill people in India for money for the rich, who profited from shares in the East India Company, or slave trading in africa, or 100 other conflicts. We should see them as our kin and the elite as our enemies.

what a surprise from that right wing extremist manifesto. But you know what, if we win, those same Tory right wingers will use it as a political tool about English exceptionalism, if we don't they'll verbally attack him again, because Southgate is a man of integrity and empathy....something these extremist MPs hate.

Fox News is wrong by the way it’s the cliche throwaway line you see in the Uk when trump is mentioned as even thought it’s alarmist it was balanced of a sort and played by the wider rules.

As the real hard core trumpees watch Oan and newsmaxx that’s where the real brain washing begins.

To be fair, all former presidents are addressed as "president". On the other hand those two networks are absolutely odious.

Racism is violence.
Not confined to 90 minutes on a football pitch.

This is a horrific story, but is no longer being treated as a racist incident. West Midlands police initially believed it was a gang of white lads, but I believe it turned out to be a gang of Asian lads. Nonetheless is just awful and these kind of attacks are happening daily in the big cities. Something has to change.

Why does that make it a non racist attack?

Yes they are ( and you are right to point that out) but I don’t think they mean it that way do you.

Some of Fox are/were actual reporters and tried their best to just report the news. The problem was with their opinion presenters like Hannity, Ingraham and particularly Dobbs and Carlson, they were the ones pushing Trumps agenda. Add in the likes of **** head Pirro, The Five and Fox and Friends who regularly entertained Trump rambling live via the phone and it is no surprise that the likes of Chris Wallace got drowned out on Fox.
However, back onto the subject, I'd hate to think that Southgate comes in for criticism from the hard of thinking over this because he's not only right to point out the booing, but he's also shown the strength of character to speak up and not just try and be politically impartial and keep his head down. I've always held him in high regard so I'm not surprised he's addressed the issue head on.

Don’t know, but that’s what West Midlands police said

Thats what makes him different: could never imagine Hodgson / Allardyce / et al making any political comments. In the past - Managers / Ther FA / EFL have presented a stuffy [media friendly] bunch of stiffs-in-a-bubble. We cant ignore reallity and Gareth has taken that on board.
We [fans] are all potential Managers of club and country, but hes took England onto the next level in how it challenges prejudice of all kinds.
I like the bloke - maybe one day he could manage the Boro?

I've just stumbled across this interview with Simon Jordan on YouTube talking about the knee (amongst other things).

I'm not his biggest fan but he usually puts an argument across pretty well and he has a different perspective to many of the posts on this thread.

Hopefully there’ll be a good turnout for the Black and White Unite campaign ahead of England’s first game at Wembley on 13th.

Southgate has just said on sky sports news that the team will continue to take the knee despite the adverse reaction. Good!

Wheather you agree with the action or not nobody should be able to change the players commitment by booing. For this reason alone good on them.
