Gareth Southgate

Outwitted him to the extent it went to penalties?
The massive difference is we have Bellingham this time 😃

Don’t be surprised to witness the French hack away at him on Saturday. If he breaks with the ball like last night versus Senegal the French won’t let him through, he’ll be taken down.
Bellingham will need to deal with that because the French we’re watching that spectacular show last night also and will have a plan

Hopefully it doesn’t work.

Hi all

If you are all having a go at me for being anti Gareth southgate then can you go and pick on someone else

All I pointed out was he lost the final
Last year. To a much more experienced manager. Who beat him.

Seriously - all had a few drinks have we? Looking to Pick a fight ???

It's a football message board. People post opinions about football.
Then they debate them.
Nobody is having a go at you, nobody has been even slightly aggressive towards you, they merely have a different opinion to you.

Its written elsewhere that Gareth Southgate got the job at the time the club hemeraged quality players.
He was fresh to the role and allowed others to dictate. [We`ve had this conversation before].
We had little money to spend and the replacements werent up to the mark.
Those who chuck muck about wouldnt understand if the sun shone out of Southgate`s arz.

Let’s wait and see how Saturday goes, I wouldn’t say he has done anything exceptional yet considering how good this squad is

I suppose it's hard to determine what is exceptional.
I'll tell you what is remarkable mind, between Sir Alf Ramsey leaving the job and Southgate taking the England job England won 6 tournament knockout games, in 44 years and about 15 managers. Gareth Southgate has won that many knockout games , already.

Lots of football fans like to think they're experts. The amount of ***** Southgate has faced from fans and media is shocking. Stuff like "take the handrake off" and other comments just demonstrate a complete lack of perspective. Southgate is perfect for international football and has created an amazing environment for a group of talented players to thrive.

Football fans like to be opinionated, but form opinions based on very limited information - What You See is All There Is. It's usually a very wrong opinion.
True, although the 'take the handbrake off' thing has become the staple mantra for almost all football fans when their team is struggling, including ours, as a way of having a go at a manager.

What is exceptional is that he hasn't fallen foul of a complete humiliation. His predecessor managed two of those in as many tournaments. The guy before managed one out of one. The guy before didn't even qualify for the Euros. You have to go back to Sven, who quit 16.5 years ago, to find an England manager who can even hold a candle to Southgate's England achievements, EVEN if we go out on Saturday. Sven also had this coveted 'great squad' at his disposal, for 3 tournaments.

Who is having a go?
You expressed an opinion which not everyone agrees with.
I personally think that the performance of a younger, inexperienced, under-prepared Gareth 13 years ago has no bearing on his performance during this world cup.
If that upsets you then I'm sorry.

Our Gareth is an excellent England manager. What a record in tournament football.

Boro Legend.
I don't get the limitation to tournament football either, his qualifying is outstanding also. HE's far better in qualifying than Alf Ramsey, Graham Taylor, Steve McClaren, and indeed has a better qualifying record than every single manager. Played 27, won 22 drew 4 lost 1, scored 94 , conceded 12.

His only failure was the last Nations League resulting in relegation. But other managers didn't play that competition, so nothing to compare against. Not played many friendlies so pointless even looking at those.

Virtually every message in to the BBC live feed this morning is still negative, it's mental how ingrained the pessimism is.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, there are sections of society that have been entrenched against him because he showed empathy for racial equality. It's a political stance against a man of honour, emotional intelligence and integrity.

It is shocking how many people on social media still say if we win the World Cup it will be in spite of Southgate.
yup, it's the language of the thickos. The idea that it is impossible to change your mind despite new evidence is the epitome of ignorance. If they argued, "If he wins then I'll change my mind...but he won't win" would be a bit more intellectually honest, but you rarely see that statement.

got a link? I'm intrigued to see what kind of garbage is being spouted.

Tbf, there were actually a few more positive comments that I'd noticed, but a lot of it is still grim reading.

You'd think France had smashed their way past all opposition without conceding any chances the way some are going on.
