Friday beer and music thread!

First gig, forgot that bit. Think it was De La Soul, circa 1989/90 in Newcastle. They were ****.

I did see the Drifters at the Dormans on my 18th though shortly after, they were much better.

Just dropping in to say hello fellas. Not started on the ale yet. And I'm sorry WeeGord but I really can't remember what my first gig was. Been to so many of the bloody things and my teens and my twenties in particular are all a bit of a blur to me these days. Enjoy your Friday evening lads. I'll probably pop in again a bit later on to irritate you all a bit.

Hi WeeGord happy friday, not that I'm in any position, in anyway, to a say whats good, or bad about music, but I would have thought, apart from me, you would have ben the last person I would associate with this (song), please dont hold it against me mate & enjoy your drink mate
I love pretty much all music Erimus but my heart has always been in Rock / grunge / indie type stuff.

That said I have no time for rave etc.

Happy Friday folks, thankfully the weekend in almost upon us and to celebrate a couple of gentle relaxed days ahea I have a few bottles of Heineken. I must point out that whilst I don't mind the stuff it's certainly not a favourite but was a gift from a happy client. Given that my own stocks are running a little low I shall be indulging in those this evening.

Now onto music and I was thinking of what themes to possibly look at and one of the regular music threads that seems to pop up on here centres on who the first band you ever saw live were. In my case it was Soundgarden as they were the opening act followed by Faith No More and Guns n' Roses on a red hot June day back in 1992, though for the purposes of the theme I guess you can use any of the bands from your first gig. I'm going to be greedy and share a couple of music videos the first of which is Birth Ritual by Soundgarden which is, IMHO, a truly great track. I appreciate it's possibly a little heavy and dark for some of those who usually contribute to the threads so with my Guns n' Roses track I have gone for the evergreen Sweet Child O' Mine.

Happy weekend one and all.

Brilliant mate I always look forward to see your Friday beers thread. Class as alway. Cheers and have a wonderful weekend. 🍻👍🐏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

6 hours behind you all here and literally just bought a house so will begin the moving process soon. Will definitely have a drink to celebrate, but not until I've done at least 2 truck loads today (we have until tomorrow evening to finish the move).

I'm the meantime, here's my first ever gig....

My mate took me to see Copey not too long ago at the Riverside up in Newcastle .. was a great night

Not so much beer for me tonight as haven't drank in years .. though music is involved. Had the auld guitar out .. been listening to guitar tracks in R&B/Pop/Soul classics ... I love the guitar track in 'Dance With Somebody' by Whitney Houston

Wouldn't say it's the regular kind of music I listen to, but interested in the players over those years on guitar and absolutely love the soulful touch and chordal style in the backing of those songs ... was bashing out the Whitney tune on a Telecaster through a Vox, find it very satisfying.

I am more of a rock and roll guy but R&B/soul/hip-hop guitar work I am really well into these days. Been through the lot but well into my soulful, slick guitar now .. would love to get together a function band that play such tracks you don't often hear in your average pub band

I might get together a Lionel Richie tribute act or something .. maybe Tina Turner :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
