Friday beer and music thread!

I'm with you there @bumface first time I encountered this new phenomenon was buying some Brooklyn Lager for a change (average at best).

Although prising the cans apart was fine my OCD meant I spent an inordinate amount of time picking the glue blobs off so I could hold the can properly and it was more aesthetically pleasing. What a sad sack I am!🤣
Peeling that glue stuff off things is very satisfying though. Look at it as an added bonus to the beer! (and yeah Brooklyn Lager is underwhelming)

They're not normally a problem if you just twist them rather than just trying to yank them apart but twisting at the moment is agony for me because I buggered my back up the other day having a fight with a patio table and associated bits and pieces in my parents garage.

Yes Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call are also great albums. Some excellent tracks on them including The American, Sweat in Bullet and Love Song 👍
I've never heard Sister Feelings Call, will hunt down now (although all the tracks you name are on S&F) and have a listen.

Yes, I think picking the glue off was more enjoyable than the beer, actually I reckon if I added some fizzy water to the glue it probably would have tasted better too!

I prefer ales, but when it's hot in the summer a cold lager can be good. I was suckered in with some guff on the can about it being 'hoppy' and I quite like a hoppy lager (always seek out some Three Hop on draft when up in Edinburgh).

I've only got into hoppy beers in the last year or so (always avoided IPAs until recently) but now really enjoy them. Not sure if you can get Goose Island IPA in the UK, but that was my gateway beer into the land of the hop.

Yes, you can get Goose Island IPA over here, although I must admit it's not one I've tried, might have to rectify that, always rather go off recommendation than lucky dip 🤣🍺

They do another IPA called Next Coast which I also now like, but it's definitely hoppier than the straightforward IPA (and it's 7% too, so you can definitely tell you've had a couple!)

Where the blinking flip is WeeGord? It was his idea to extend this thread in to Saturday night and now he seems to have done a runner. I'm not going to post HMHB songs on here all night all by myself just because he's too lazy to attend to his own thread. Pull your bloody finger out WeeGord. State of this place sometimes . . .

Still on the malbec, and listening to the other fab four...
Am I right in thinking that one of The Housemartins got done for something involving an axe and GBH? And one of the others became Fatboy Slim of course and my now sadly deceased Bearded Collie really liked 'Rockafeller Skank' when I used to sing it to him. He was a big fan of Air too. The band, not the breathable atmosphere. Although he probably liked that too 'Sexy Boy' was one of his favourites.

Yep, Norman of course became Fatboy, while Hugh did time for the axe incident - just a threat rather than the act itself I believe. I suspect Paul will have looked after him financially on the quiet, he's got a lovely history of doing such things.

I am one of life's worriers mate. I have good reason to be but I try not to let it get to me. My deceased Bearded Collie used to like this one too. Think it was the way that it went from speaker to speaker and his ears would just pr*ck up one after the other and he'd get really confused but really excited too:

I can't believe I've found someone else who likes Urusei Yatsura, used to quite like them many years ago.

Are they even still together?

No, unfortunately. I think one or two of them formed another band called Project something or other. Look it up. Should be easy enough to find. Yatsura's first album was great, second was patchy and the third came years later and nobody really noticed it but it had a really nice CD cover and had one or two good songs on it. I'm a fan of this video because of the VU/ Warhol/ Factory feel that it has to it:
