Fosters Lager alcohol content...

I’d rather drink Oranjeboom stubbies! 😆

Many years since I’ve drank the likes of Carling / Fosters etc. absolutely horrid stuff. My father in law loves Carling but he’s proper old school. He hates the Micro Bars etc. as “all the beer is chite”.

Where possible I tend to stick to Real Ales or IPA’s. If a place doesn’t stock a good selection, I’ll tend to opt for something like Morretti / San Miguel but they aren’t that much better.

I periodically change my tastes though where I’ll go through phases of drinking Guiness / Cider (more in the summer for Cider).
I've been an IPA man for a while, but I was out in Hartlepool last Friday and we went to the Owl on Scarborough Street. I tried a chocolate stout from Seven Brothers. Oh my days

Breaking News, Noticed this has now been reduced from 4% to 3.7% 🥺
I wonder why ? It's like drinking water....

Just thought I'd let yoos know 👍
3.7%??? Doesn't play to the Aussie stereotype does it?!

Total generalization here, but I've noticed that beers over here in the US tend to have a higher abv % than at home. I try to drink local craft beers where ever possible and this usually means a beer between 6% and 9.5%. Even Budweiser (bleugh) is 5%. Americans like to be "holier than thou" when talking to a Brit about drinking habits, but they aren't averse to having a skinful too (they usually just drive home afterwards instead of fighting on the High Street waiting for a taxi though ).

I’ve had a few chocolate stouts. I don’t them but can only limit myself to one as they’re pretty heavy / sickly I find.

We were in Stockton on Friday. Had a couple at The Golden Smog, Tipsy Turtle and the Kopper Keg. Generally our usual post work pubs when we have office days (one / two Fridays a month).

TT and KK have some excellent selections every time we go in. Sadly I always forget the names by the time I’ve had a couple of 8% beers in the Keg 😆

Stouts/porters are my go-to (especially love the flavored ones) but they hit the spot better in cold weather I feel. My favorites are all produced by a local brewery called Hubbard's Cave, but they're all 12% so any more than one is a challenge!

I thought it was a beautiful place, as I said Nellies was dangerous with how cheap it was and there were loads of nice restaurants too.
Indeed, we’ve even got a Tomahawk in Beverley now, so if I fancy a parmo, that’s the place to go!

Comes from same lines as Coors ..................except as you say its marketed as superior , our lad works on lines there
Yeah, I fell into the Madri trap for a while as would be my go to choice is there was no IPA / Beer options. When I done dry January, my first pint in the February was Madri. It didn’t go down well at all. Went off it since then. Drastically overrated.

I drink real ale but I love a pint of quality lager when the time is right.
Lager though, is often the victim/beneficiary of clever marketing. In my lifetime Italy has never been known as a great brewing nation but now, with the aid of TV adverts featuring cool young Italians passing bottles down from balcony to balcony on the end of a rope, I see people drinking nothing but Italian lagers. Madri is a beneficiary as it is just a typical eurofizz lager owned by Molson Coors. There are some great lagers in Spain, and even San Miguel (but not the stuff brewed in Northampton) is better.
San Miguel is Fillipino!

I never seen or had Madri in Spain, I've only had it over here once, that was because the other options were the usual kak we get over here., I knew from the 1st sip I had been suckered by good branding it is the biggest pile of **** I have had for a while.
That’s because it’s just re branded carling, albeit the recipe they used in the 80s rather than the weaker modern version.

Paid a visit to the Tipsy Fox in Haxby to avoid the cues on the 1237. Lowenbrau I’m bottles and DAB. Forgot his nice a good German hell is. Got sick of QUILMES in BA. Enjoy a nice 1698 as well
