Formula 1

I’ve never said a word

My fave driver of late is lando he just oozes enthusiasm and I like that wether he’ll get the chance to shine I’m not so sure.
You have mate. I'm not the only one seeing it. A few people have noticed.
It's fine, not having a go. It's sport you can have irrational dislikes. I just think it's unusual in motorsports.

Anyway before the thread gets unpleasant I think we both agree something needs to be done about the racing. Not sure what though. I'd like to see BOP introduced but it just won't happen in F1.

Maxcedes would be awesome. If I was Max I’d go there even if they were 20th on the grid just because it’ll be funny.

I’m still skeptical that liberty are leaking these things to distract people from the “racing”

To be fair, a lot of the Horner stuff seemed to be coming out of stuff being leaked in Holland, and there's been the odd Newey rumour too. Also read something along the lines of Max would only leave if Marko did, so the tacit approval from joyful old Helmut seems a bit odd too.

Now this is exciting, today's rumours is that if RBR did loose Verstappen, Adrian Newey would go to Toyota Gazoo Racing to design their le mans hypercar. Apparently he's always wanted to build a car for LeMans

I think ST sums it up when he says ‘today’s rumour’ - There are just rumours every day, nothing concrete. Probably because the last race was so dull they have nothing better to write about!
I suspect this is what is happening.

Whether it's liberty themselves or jsut bored journalists avoiding talking about the "race". It does seem they are jsut trying to inject interest into the dullness

It’s race week so they need something to write about other than it being (potentially) another Verstappen easy victory which doesn’t make great reading or generate many clicks.

Its funny seeing the fanbase rivalries develop. People believe that what Liberty and DTS have done is brought in a football style fan rivalry, almost tribalistic. However, that was around when Schumacher was running Damon Hill out of road, all those years ago. Probably just as prevalent when Senna and Prost where bumping into one another. It seems that it is the media and the dawn of social media that have brought the hatred sharply into focus, unfortunately.

For what it's worth I am a Lewis fan. Unlike football, my allegiance have changed, throughout the years. James Hunt, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton. The manufacturers went from Mclaren, Williams, Brawn, Mclaren, and now Mercedes, although I still love Mclaren. The MTC is something else and I got to watch a race there once. An unforgettable experience, so I love to see them prospering.

I also had a soft spot for Red Bull, when Danny Ric was driving for them and was fortunate enough to be a guest of theirs at Silverstone in 2017. I met Danny (genuinely funny guy), Carlos Sainz Jr, Danill Kyvat and, of course, Max. I am sure, when Lewis finally hangs up his sparco racing boots, I will be cheering Lando on to victory!

Where else in sport can you change your colours like this?
I will be wearing half and half scarfs next

Probably all smoke and mirrors by Jos to get Max a new contract and/or Horner out, to cement the Verstappen power base in RedBull, but the rumours aren't going away!

Ex-F1 driver Gerhard Berger has set out how Max Verstappen could complete a potential move to Mercedes, following the recent turmoil surrounding Red Bull Team Principal and CEO Christian Horner

The storm surrounding Red Bull Team Principal and CEO Christian Horner continues to dominate the headlines, with a potential move to Mercedes in 2025 now being rumoured for Max Verstappen as a result.

However, the three-time World Champion is currently contracted to Red Bull until the end of the 2028 season. Despite this, ex-F1 driver Gerhard Berger has predicted how the Dutchman could pull off one of the biggest moves in the history of the sport.

"As it looks now, Horner will remain at Red Bull, both Helmut Marko and Adrian Newey will leave the team and Max Verstappen will leave for Mercedes," Berger is quoted as saying by F1-Insider.

Rumours about the reigning World Champion replacing Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes next season arose when his father, Jos Verstappen, was seen at the Bahrain International Circuit with Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff.

These rumours then grew even larger, after Red Bull driver's father made his comments regarding Horner. He stated that Red Bull will be "torn apart" if Horner remains as the Milton Keynes-based outfit's Team Principal and CEO, following the situation he finds himself in regarding the investigation and the anonymous email containing potential leaks of his messages.

Max leaving RB would be insane, but to go to Mercedes is on another level. I personally can't see it as he knows he's in the best car, unless he fancies more of a challenge or the stuff behind the scenes has grown arms and legs.

This is exactly how I see it. Was a Williams fan when young and also a Minardi fan now, quite rightly, I loathe what Minardi have become and am pretty "meh" about Williams even though I'm loving the resurrection of Alex Albon.

I've always had a soft spot for the team that is no Merc, obviously because of Brawn GP but even in the BAR and Honda "Earth dream" days. However my favourite current driver is Hamliton even though he's becoming an insufferable bore off the track so I'll be donning the red next year! If I'm bothered of course.

Oh and apparently liberty have leaked another MBS scandal today. He tried to stop officials classifying Las Vegas.

I think maybe Jos sees the writing on the wall. Red Bull could implode, so he'll want golden boots out before that happens. Hence why he's sowing disquiet

Wonder if the PowerTrains division have run into potential issues over producing a competitive new engine for after the regs change?

Seems weird all coming out now like.
