For us old beggars on here

Milkmen, Window Cleaners and Tea Sellers, all still going but struggling professions I would imagine.

I was a milkman back in the day, absolutely loved it

The rent man..,,

Kirby cleaner sales men… we had one come to ours and I was fascinated when he fitted a buffer disc to the vacuum and used it to buff my mams wedding ring… he was proper gutted when they refused to take out a 3 year plan to buy one at £50 a month…😱

We still have a fish man that comes to the village. And a window cleaner too.

The difference now is that they text mr when they are going to call.

Telegram boys either on bicycles or BSA Bantams. For balance we do have scrap men with Transit lorries and van drivers who happen to have surplus mattresses for sale at discounted prices.
Someone come out with a story on a work call about a bargain mattress they had bought from a guy in the street and absolutely wouldn't have it that it was a scam even when I sent a link to websites detailing the scam.

I am doing some work for avon at the moment. They are reps and sales leads not Avon ladies.
My Mrs has someone who comes to the door with an Avon catalogue and she calls herself an Avon lady.

We get milk delivered twice a week, its expensive by I haven't the heart to tell the milkman to stop it!

I used to deliver milk in Marske by horse and cart in the mid sixties. Fitzhughs dairies, right next to the blacksmiths mentioned earlier on. The horse had reins but he didn't needs them. He would walk round the route and stop at the same points every day.
It was "fun" getting up at 5.00 am and then going to school afterwards, all for £1 10s .
