Bobby Thomson ex-boro was a hard man on the field and later worked the doors in Blackpool after he retired ... he actually got suspended playing for Hibs for punching a lino....

I had one of the strangest ever conversations with Bobby Thompson in The Lampton in Normanby.

It was around the time Terry Cochrane would regularly bring Boro players into the pub with him and this night he had David Shearer (no surprise) and Bobby Thompson. Thompson was sitting drinking with me and he started to show me how to glass someone you were sat opposite to. Thompson was going through the motions of bringing his pint below the table and saying you just catch it on the edge and follow through.

What a bazaar moment.
