Football Manager 2025 DELAYED!

It takes me at least 2 years in real life to really get into a career in this game. I don't actually want an annual new game, because after a year real time, I am usually still only taking my former conference North team to the UEFA Cup, and not the Champions league.

From what I can gather it is not a whole new game or a different match engine. They are using a new game engine. They used to use their own or something obscure. Now they are moving to unity which is widely used, though I think most games use unreal engine. Means that they can employ people who already have knowledge of working with this engine.
They will probably use this move to get rid of some of the crap and it will be a very different game but I don't think it's like starting from scratch. More like moving stuff over. #noexpert

Right. So. I have never played FM but I have a little more time on my hands these days so thought I’d have a tinker.

So how much time per week do you guys spend playing? And what version do you suggest I start with ?

CM0102 of course. It was well worth the money spending £1k on a gaming laptop to play a 25 year old spreadsheet but I still get far more enjoyment out of it than the new ones.

I got FM 24 last year and it is good. I'm a binge player so I played it for about 150 hours to do 10 seasons on my first Boro save. It never feels the same the second time around so I've only played 10-20 hours or so here and there. It's probably about 10 hours to do a season depending on how much of the actual game you want to watch (for me it's basically none because I'm not a fan of the in-game management part). You can do it much quicker by using an add-on to get instant results.

I play other games on my laptop for 1 or 2 hours at a time because I plug it into a TV and use a controller but with FM I play on my lap so will play for 5 hours at a time on an evening. You don't have to be watching the screen constantly so it's a game I can play while having the TV on.

Assuming you work for 8 hours and sleep for 8 hours, that gives you 56 hours a week to hone your managerial skills.

You can easily get this up to 70+ hours a week if you cut down on the sleep

I started a new save for the first time about a year on deadline day for a bit of fun.

I've got the updated squad (from the summer) database, but I went on 'holiday' for a season, and gave myself the Boro job in the summer, thankfully we didn't get promoted or sign anyone. Played every night this week for around an hour and a half and I'm only in October.

Am I right to assume that some on here are married/partnered with kids?
Where the fr.ig do you get 5 hours a night to play on the computer? This has always been my question.
Yep. By the time I've finished work, picked the kids up, done their tea, tidied up, got them ready for bed..... I might get an hour on the PlayStation if I'm lucky before the Mrs suggests watching something together.

Not all bad, does mean games take me absolutely forever to finish, saves £££. My teenage self would be mortified to learn that these days I can sometimes go a week without playing anything.

Have you raised the idea of an FM multiplayer? (Not a euphemism)

What has been the issue do you know?
Serious underestimation of how long it takes to port a game between engines and the amount of issues you run into doing it. I've done it before on a different game, it was hell, I'd rather change jobs than do it again.

I go to bed late. 5 hours of football manager isn't 5 hours staring intently at the screen like a different sort of game would be. A lot of it is passive so 8pm-1am (after the kids have gone to bed and we've had tea) is doable. It's hard to stop as well so sometimes that becomes 2am because why would you go to bed when there's only a few matches of the title race to go!

Some days I will watch a football match or an NFL game or the golf and the wife watches something she wants to watch in the other room. If she has something she wants to watch I'm not interested in and there's no football etc (or there's nothing I want to watch) then I play computer games instead. It's not 5 hours a night, 7 days a week. With FM she can watch something she wants to watch while I play FM in the same room.

You should ditch it and join the championship manager 0102 crew.

The game is free to download and they update the players every transfer window

Here's the latest data update:
I’ve tried a few times but I always have the same issue, the sensitivity on the mouse scroll when trying to do a transfer/contract is a nightmare!

There’s probably a solution but I’ve tried and can’t figure it out.

If you have a half decent pc/laptop and want a change from fifa, or a free version this football life is worth a look. It's basically a modded out version of pro evo (efootball) 21, completely free to download.

Plays more like a simulation, than fifas arcadey feeling controls. A fair but of hidden depth as well with different skill moves and stuff.

And the boro run out to pigbag, and it has red faction chants from the riverside.
