First Test - India v England

Curled up on the sofa at 4am, Channel 4 on. Always love when we tour India, and it's fantastic that it's back on terrestrial.

Broad left out but not a bad team selection for this test. I would perhaps have had Moeen Ali in instead of Bess.

England batting first - 20/0 after 10 overs. A nice patient start will hopefully set the foundations for a big score.

A solid opening start. 50 partnership up
Fair play to these two. I know we haven't seen the pitch turn yet, but I didn't expect them to look this comfortable.

If we post a big score then it could set us up for a good tour. Getting skittled cheaply - which looks less likely over by over - would be disastrous for their confidence in a place like India!

Worth getting up for!

63-1.

Gave his wicket away there. Why oh why?!

Dreadful and it’s not the first time Burns has looked so comfortable and then just thrown it all away. You can’t do that in India. That should have been 80-0 at lunch.

Important session coming up for not only this test, but the series I feel. If India run through us it will be difficult to come back. Need big runs from Joe again now.

Root and Sublet doing a really good job here, just keeping the scoreboard ticking over and not doing anything daft. Text book test match batting.

127-2

Enjoying the cricket and coverage, but missing the vibrant and passionate home supporters that make these matches special.
Looking forward to when the world can hopefully once again move freely about.

Great it is on Ch4, pity I hadn't realised this. Still looks like a very promising start to the game. Haven't seen the wickets yet Root surviving an early nick off the edge after tea. C'mon England!
