First Crimea, next Ukraine?

They are all in the same region so its not brilliant... but at least they don't move and they show up well on radar and with the naked eye. They were also built on Atols and Shoals which are on charts.

The ships they are using are glorified fishing vessels and are almost impossible to see.

Funny enough the main reason our new Aircraft carrier and her carrier group are deploying to the region on her maiden voyage is to conduct freedom of navigation through the area
Yes I've read many times that the Americans have sailed close to this atolls and when questioned have claimed freedom of navigation. I'm surprised there hasn't been a 'accident' yet, in fact there probably has been and it's just never been made public.

The Chinese government is committing genocide and crimes against humanity through its wide-scale repression of Uighurs and other predominantly Muslim ethnic minorities in its north-western region of Xinjiang including in its use of internment camps and forced sterilization.
I posted about this months ago after a video surfaced of Uighurs been led onto cargo carriages at a train station and it was met by blind eyes and deaf ears because the video didn't come from the BBC or Sky News or any large news corporation.

You are Joe Biden and I claim my five pounds. ,😏

Not once did I say the post was correct hence the "I heard" part of the sentence.

No wonder posters keep leaving here or reduce their post count dramatically when discussions are met with vitriolic responses. 👀
You're saying that you were trolling but don't like the reaction 😁

Aggression? Not since I was 19 Fur. 😀
You were the one who jumped gun. See the difference in yours and Liamo's replies.
Passive aggression.

Look at my very first response to your claim Randy.
Entirely civil and reasoned.
I asked you to point me in the direction of any factual reports which confirmed your twitter source that Biden had previously said that he would knock the wall down and also that construction of the wall had 're-commenced'.

You ignored my request, presumably because you then realised that no such reports existed, but pushed your agenda instead.

I'm fine with your views on Biden and you clearly have a thirst for news and knowledge which is admirable but you should fact check yourself instead of believing everything you come across.

Perhaps I'm not as learned as others who subsequently posted basically the same rebuttal as I did and in my exasperation I obviously came across as vitriolic towards you for which I apologise.

Trolling? How is sharing information wanting clarification trolling? 🤔 I've mentioned this many times before on the board when thanking others with more experience or knowledge in whichever subject was.been discussed at the time.

Education education education.

@BoroFur all is good in the hood. I've just noticed the aggressiveness has got a bit higher on the board overall this past 2 weeks. We should all strive to be better, myself included.

Im not getting into a discussion with you about a journalist.

" Denying the Holocaust is a crime in a number of countries.." your post.

I object to dismissing the holocaust as justification for your rant against a journalist, and on behalf of the victims of genocide and those Jews and others who support human rights in Palestine I ask you politely to apologise for that remark.

I think it's a little different this time, the poking. As I mentioned earlier the pandemic makes a convenient distraction.

While escalation is always possible in these situations, I don’t think either side actually wants it, Russia certainly wants to keep the pressure up in what it regards as it’s sphere of influence however.

Mark Galeotti is an absolute Titan on this region and the article linked is a very good summary of the situation, I highly recommend following people like him and Brian Whitmore for a more accurate understanding of the former Soviet Union and the current situation in the region.

Revealed: UK ignored Chechnya war crimes to push BP’s oil interests as it worked to get Vladimir Putin elected in 2000

Five highly repressive Gulf states – Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates — have been able to invest at least £140bn in Britain. The figure is more than five times larger than Russian investments in the UK, which have, by contrast, received sustained criticism in the media and government.

Objection noted.
It was not a rant.
There will be no apology.

Cheers Smoggle I'll certainly look into his posts. I'm always looking for a better understanding of the region.

Deep background.

Reading up on some more today, Russia have apparently got 85,000 troops stationed on the border and the Russians have also moved one of the missile groups which are now in range to hit targets in Ukraine.

The yanks have also sent two warships (unknown what class yet) into the black sea.

Check out the latest Power Vertical podcast by Brian Whitmore, it’s on this very subject and likely to be very interesting- I’ve not had chance to listen yet.

Yet the Chinese have weapons of mass destruction and are abusing their ethnic minorities. Just like Iraq you know, the one that the US and Britain went to war with because they had weapons of mass destruction and were abusing their ethnic minorities
