Finally some good news

If anyone other than ST had posted this thread you'd all be laughing

Who here actually likes Weatherspoons and their owner? Come on hands up
I don't like him, but he's always been up front with what he says and is probably the least hypocritical of the high profile Brexiters. He always was pro-free movement of workers, even pre-referendum.

They've done quite a good job in preserving some of the venues in town and city centres that might otherwise be totally lost.

No, quite the opposite. How many job losses and pub closures has wetherspoons caused?
Do you know? Unless those working at a spoons are doing it for free?

If you don't like wetherspoons because of the owner, fair enough. Do you own any Apple products? Because they aren't exactly shining examples of good. Hell you own a Tesla don't you? Where do you think most of the minerals come from to make the batteries and are you aware of how they a mined?

As someone else mentioned, Wetherspoons has its market, wether that be the two old friends who catch up a few times a week over a cheap pint, a family of four who are maybe only able to afford go out for a meal for a birthday celebration there or the young lads and lasses who see it as one of the 'stops' on a night out.

Pubs going out of business has nothing to do with the owner of Wetherspoons, who granted is a Doyle, look at the extortionate beer tax and local business rates and rents.

Not really no. You are forgetting,pr chosing to ignore. All the pubs that struggle due to wetherspoons.

You also seem to forget the entire country is struggling due to brexit. Better for the brexot supporters to go to the wall first
All the pubs that struggle due to Wetherspoons being more competitive?

I know the brexit cult would take the moral high ground on this when it suits them. Hypocritical really when you consider the job losses brexit is causing
Step away from the keyboard - I’m really confused are you happy there are Job losses or not - please clarify?

I bet you are "really confused "
That clarifies that then - for a man who repeatedly demands answers of people it’s a shame you don’t hold yourself to the same standards.

you’ve started a ridiculous post and as always you are going to dig your heels in. If it hasn’t already happened I’ll wait for you accusing people of name calling.

its already happened

And to possibly lay people off to go on benefits. Shame on you ST. You certainly are the Gimlet I mentioned sometime ago.
lets be honest though, the guy pays pittance with poor work conditions or benefits. He isn't a wealth creator, he is a person that takes advantage of the less wealthy.

When people talked about foreigners coming over here and doing jobs for lower wages and depriving British people of a job, this is exactly the kind of person and business they had in mind. Now to staff his pubs he will have to offer higher wages. It'll cost him even further profit mind, but that's his own fault.

I don't, and I deliberately avoid them.

Equally I get that some people like them, for some people it's the only way they can afford a night or meal out, and for some people working there is a way to put a roof over their head. For those reasons I won't celebrate them going out of business.
Same, choose not to go into them because a) they are soulless, b) the products are crap, and c) the owner is a nob'ed

It won't go out of business but he'll probably have to sell some of the less profitable pubs......but someone else will buy them up and probably someone with a few more morals. Who knows some of those staff may get re-employed with better pay

Plenty of people celebrated and gloated about brexit knowing full well it would cause job losses.

I trust those having a go at small town for enjoying the fact the massive bell end Tim Martin is suffering a bit were just as quick to slap down the "you lost get over it" crowd for not thinking about those who would lose their jobs at the time?

I actually think that the Weatherspoons managerial positions are OK, I know a guy who has worked for him for years and speaks highly of the organization.
