100% agree with this. I don't live local. A home game would be a 200m round trip so I don't get to many. Any that I do get to I pay on the gate. I mostly go to away games, often in the home end because I can't get tickets in our end. I don't have many points so I don't expect to have a chance of getting a ticket for high demand away games or cup finals but I'm definitely not happy that I don't even have a chance of getting a home game in the cup. This thread saves me starting the one I was about to.
I'm a season card holder so it doesn't impact me, but I think those fans who don't have season cards but have been collecting priority points have every right to feel aggrieved that the club are allowing season card holder's mates to get tickets before them.
They could have gone to many home and away games this season and someone's mate who just wants to see Chelsea can get a ticket before them.
It's wrong IMO, and again is an example of the priority system not being used correctly.
This is making it almost impossible for fans to support the club from a distance, it’s fine for the likes of me who live 20 mins away but those who live down South are screwed.
They got away with this offer vs Spurs as many of these fans will have watched it at home or in their local with it being a midweek game with potential for extra time and penalties.
I don’t see how me getting an extra ticket for friends or family is rewarding my loyalty. It isn’t, it’s an offer that makes no sense and shouldn’t exist. If you want to reward my loyalty give me a discount, I personally think the tickets are too cheap for the bandwagon jumpers.
Not to rub it in for people who haven’t being able to get one, but I know loads who haven’t been since we were in the Prem who are going, some taking their missus who claimed to like football for the Euros, then went back to hating it and now wants to go “for the atmosphere and drinks”.
How on Earth is it right these people get tickets before fans who’ve travelled home and away, and their only crime is not having a season card?
It’s just wrong, I’d say I can’t believe nobody at the club saw the issue with this but previous experience tells me not to be surprised.
I wouldn’t blame any of our distance fans who are just as much of a fan as those of us who go every week if they told the club to shove it, why have a priority points system and abandon it for the most popular home game in years.
Farcical.
Hopefully there'll be some singles available YT. Against Spurs I could see empty seats dotted about so I'll keep my fingers crossed for youFair play to those of you who didn’t take the extra ticket out of principle.
I know far too many non-Boro fans, and when I say that I mean genuine glory supporters of teams like Man United and Liverpool who have already got tickets secured for the Chelsea match.
Luckily I don’t mind going on my own if I can snag a single seat on Saturday.
Same. It’s not right at all. Not even needing a linked account, just barmy and so unfair. Hope those fans with priority points manage to get tickets on Saturday. I wonder if SC holders have swapped seats to sit with their mates that they’ve bought extra for and that means there will be a significant amount available on Saturday. Hope so anyway.I didn't take the second ticket for either game. It just doesn't seem right to me.
@rob_fmttm should bring this to the attention of the club. It is obvious that they have made a huge mistake with this policy.Have over 50 priority points and it looks like i won,t get a ticket , the sheer stupidity of the the people who made this decision beggars belief . I for one will not be going to another home match this season .
It's not even just those that go regularly. Priority points should get priority over people with no points obviously but why should one person with no points get priority over someone else with no points just because they are friends with a season ticket holder?I'm a season ticket holder so I've got mine but I feel for those who go regularly, without a season ticket, have loads of points and can't get one.
I think we can put up a very strong argument to the club that this policy should be dropped going forward. I have to admit I had no idea there was a problem. We might have been able to change this situation v Chelsea if we had all communicated with the club at that point.I agree, it makes the priority points actually pointless.
Not sure I hold out much hope for the club changing their mind for the future - this is the second cup game in a row they've done this.

But then again there might be very few tickets released at 5pm Saturday.I agree the policy was wrong and I looked a bit stupid whan I posted saying before the Spurs game saying ST holders will be not allowed to buy for people with no priority, because we did not have enough tickets - 15k ST holders each buying an extra ticket = 30k home tickets when we only had 28k available.
The saving grace at present is that a lot of tickets will be released on Saturday at 5pm (as long as the site does not crash). Hopefully the 30 points plus priority fans will get a ticket then.
Personally I also think they have sold tickets too cheaply. Selling a West Stand Upper ticket for £20 against Chelsea is crazy when it costs £34 against Luton. I would rather both were £27.
What's a match-card?Still waiting for my Spurs ticket to arrive in the post (not kidding...). Bought it on the first day they were available, chose put it on match-card. When the confirmation e-mail came through it said "Post". It's shambolic
Hope those wanting to get tickets at 5pm Saturday(if any left) are not at Millwall. What a bizarre time to put them on sale. But then again there might be very few tickets released at 5pm Saturday.
