There is a nostalgia thread isnt there ?I think it's fine how it is, I'd be happy if there was a nostalgia thread, but seriously, if it were to be just football the forum would probably go the journey TBH
The good thing about this forum it covers practically every topic, apart from the best butter thread & long may it continue
The Brexit threads are the same 5, 6 posters so someone's keeping in going
Well there are some that do live in a parallel universeWhy football ? I thought this board was about space travel
Rob's obviously taking advertising money from Branson / Virgin Space, the dirty get.Why football ? I thought this board was about space travel
I remember fondly when there wasThere is a nostalgia thread isnt there ?
LightweightsThink a more worrying problem are some of the attitudes on the political/Brexit threads towards other points of views. A good few members have called it quits after getting into arguments on none sporting threads. Btw I would have sub sections if put to a vote.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be *I remember fondly when there was
The concept behind fmttm when it started was always everything on one message board. It seemed to be the secret of success.
I had to be dragged kicking and screaming and by a technical knockout from the old software but wasn't one of the big ideas here that you had more opportunity to opt out of discussions and opt out of communicating with posters that annoy you.
Am wondering whether it is due to lockdown or is it something else to do with 2021 mentality that we cannot zone out of certain things and zone in to what we want to see. Is having lots of different forums a bit like being given lots of sets of rules and barriers?
I don't know...
I do tend to think if you want more Boro discussions then why not start them, or reply or at least read other peoples Boro threads, That would really make a difference.
This board has an identity that has built up organically over decades and it works. I was a bit sceptical about the move to the new forum because I fear change and I liked it as it was but I've adapted to it now and I think we have a great community here. Took me bloody ages to get the hang of the quote function though. And I still refuse to use emojis. The concept behind fmttm when it started was always everything on one message board. Good post Trug, wish I'd have posted itWhen I took my seat I always sat next to the same person. We talked about our families, where we lived, worked, went for a pint, holidays, things we got up to when we were younger, the news, politics, roadworks, bin collection, what was for tea when we got home, the state of modern music and how it was much better in our youth, the schools we went to, our first wages and what we spent them on, old featues, places, etc of the town and anything else you could imagine. We would talk about the top teams and how they were doing, who the surprises might be or will be. Who would be relegated from the Prem, who would win the cup/league cup, European and international results. Closer to kick off we would talk about betting odds and predictions, the team: selection, formation, form, tactics, weaknesses, strengths. The same for the opposition. Pigbag would boom from the speakers. "Me Mark Page" would screech out and deafen us and we would whinge about it being too loud, as the teams walked onto the pitch. We would comment on the visiting teams strips, how many away fans we could see, how tall their centre forward was, how quick their left winger was, the centre backs hair style, the keeper seeming to have extra long arms. We would point to the flags being waved opposite and the massive banner being passed around the ground. We would applaud the stewards for escorting a drunken man out of his seat and to the exit for shouting racist stuff at the black players.
So you see, Bock 86 ,this is not just a football board, it is a football board that has brought us together. Like the Riverside, it is a meeting place for all of us and we can talk together about any subject we like. We are all welcome to join in the conversations and we are all welcome not to. No one will pass judgement. The thing we all have in common is that we are all Boro fans.
