Exercise. I'm heading towards my 60th birthday.....

i find it quite easy, you get used to it, it means i can still have a couple of days undisciplined, fortunately i have no medical conditions to effect this, i do have a GP in the family who advocates fasting from time to time, good as a deterrent against diabetes apparently, i just piggyback the theory to allow me to have a good weekend while getting healthier
I have done it I have stopped the OMAD now and stick to 20/4 and eat large amounts of protein.

Change what & the way you eat, intermittent fasting 5:2 & nothing after 20:00.. doing some moderate exercise is beneficial too: walking / cycling.. weights is also good as we need to guard against muscle loss.. it is what burns the calories .

Do you go to a class or have a machine at home?
We do classes on equipment. In groups that varying in size from 6 down to just the missus and myself. Twice a week. Each session is around 45 to 50 minutes. This is just some of the equipment we use.

An oldish photo from the end of the covid restrictions.

Thanks. Have occasionally toyed with the idea of buying a home Pilates machine.

Before you do anything goto the gp and get a health screening if your overweight at that age theres a good chance you will have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or even diabetes without knowing

“cardio burns calories and not much fat, if you tie it in with some resistance training then you will see the fat burn off a lot more.”

“Cut out white bread or bread all together. That alone will make you lose weight”

It’s complete codswallop like this that creates an industry around weight loss.

If you want to lose fat. Consume less calories than you expend. End of.

Of course you will lose weight if you consume less than you expend but there are ways and means of making it easier, fasting is a tool that works for a lot of people.

Cardiovascular training is good for heart health and burning calories but removing fat from the body you need to tie it in with some sort of resistance training to achieve better results.

Building muscle whilst doing cardio is excellent for raising your metabolic rate hence the need for resistance training.

It’s hardly codswallop.

The only thing that will make you lose weight is calorie deficit. How someone gets to that deficit is down to them.
Want to put on muscle? Then I’m afraid you’ll need a calorie surplus.
The extremely tricky thing then is not trying to put on fat at the same time.
That’s why the vast majority of us don’t look like a men’s health cover.
