Excessive disposable incomes

Crikey, I'm seriously deficient in the kitchenware department. The fanciest thing I have are battery operated salt and pepper grinders that have a little light at the bottom, presumably for when you're eating during a power cut. Oh, and a tiny little grater which I thought was for grating a small nub of cheese, but it's actually for grating nutmeg. I've used it once

In the past for my kitchen I have bought:
A nicer dicer
A chip and dice
A wine warmer
A wine breather
A George Foreman Grill
An Acitfry
An Airfryer
A breadmaker
A spice grinder
An omelette maker
A steamer
A pizza peel
Indian serving dishes and pots
A senseo
A Tassimo
A bacon making kit
Burger maker
A rotisserie
I bought a new kitchen a couple of years ago. :ROFLMAO:

What are some of the things/gadgets that people buy that make you chuckle?

Bumped into a couple the other day that I haven't seen for a while and they were raving about something called a Thermomix. It's apparently a trendy food processor that costs north of a grand. Their eyes were dilating as they talked about it. Anyway, just as the conversation ended and I was walking away they turned back and said 'Oh, forgot to tell you - we've just got a Peloton' I just gave them the thumbs up and turned away howling

You're easily amused if that left you howling down the street. I am sure that couple would totally approve of each and every item you treat yourself to.
I wonder if people used to react in the same way when people first bought microwaves, colour TVs, tumble driers, etc. etc.

I took that post with a healthy 5kg bag of salt, Couldn’t imagine that situation actually happening in real life.

mine cost me an extra £15 on top of the licence fee I had to pay (new car).. & now its mine for life.. not an overindulgence IMHO
I wouldn't call it an over indulgence at all. Just a needles vanity project as far as I'm concerned. Who really cars that you have your initials on your car?

saves having to remember new plates each time, though I was once asked what my reg was & forgot :-D think I've had it for 2 cars & about 18 years now.. I like that is old school layout & not current reg style.

fair enough. Never thought of it that way

Or when they say they like em because of the art yet don't have the faintest clue who Jackson Pollock or Andy Warhol are nor do they have one piece of art on their walls... Yup mate you love art.

I met a guy who had a Sherlock Holmes tattoo and told him I'd recently purchased the Sherlock Holmes box set... He said he hadn't read any of them

Can't beat a bit of good old fashioned snobbery! Timeless. Just like art I suppose.

My only tattoos are daft ones I got when I was quite different than I am today. I've been tempted to laser them off but feel actually they're just a reminder of a different time.

I'll be getting some more which are representative of my travels and the places I've lived and loved. Quite frankly couldn't give a fcuk if they repulse people or not. Actually it's nice to get such a strong response. 🤔

Do you mean a different time when you thought the tattoos would make you look cool and help ya pull chicks? You can butter it up however you want, what ever makes you feel better I guess.

If you saw them you'd know that 100% was never going to be the case but nice try! Does telling other people why they do things make you feel like you understand things better?

'chicks', christ 🤦‍♂️

"Just a reminder of a different time" seriously mate get them lasered rather that sugar coating it.

Yup chicks... Maybe you refer to them as birds, more commonly known as girls. I'm from Australia and its the norm to say chicks. Cultural thing I guess. You'd know that being a well travelled man right?

Absolutely this!

Totally agree, I know some nice(ish) folk at heart who have these private number plates and if you scratch a bit deeper with them there’s nothing below the surface with them. Selfish and/narcissistic but most of all desperate to have people think they are hip or cool
What other people think of them means so much
Fragile is the definition of these people and they are semi conscious of their fragility

I don't think any more or less of someone if they have a private plate.

I don't have one and never have. Some people have their initials on a car, some people may want to hide their vehicles age, some people think it might look cool to have a plate with X5 on an X5, seen quite a few boro related ones round Teesside. I don't care or judge.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
