What are some of the things/gadgets that people buy that make you chuckle?

Bumped into a couple the other day that I haven't seen for a while and they were raving about something called a Thermomix. It's apparently a trendy food processor that costs north of a grand. Their eyes were dilating as they talked about it. Anyway, just as the conversation ended and I was walking away they turned back and said 'Oh, forgot to tell you - we've just got a Peloton' I just gave them the thumbs up and turned away howling

Robotic hoovers make me laugh. They don’t even do a good job

Some people are more obsessed with image and how they are perceived than anything else.

I went fishing once and there was a bloke with a motor home on the lake, this thing was a monster and very impressive, never even met the bloke before but he was so proud of it he was trying to get me and my mate to have a look inside as he wanted to show off. Kept telling us he was selling it and getting a bigger one for a million etc. When we talked about fishing and what I’d caught, everything he had ever caught was about 1oz bigger than what I’d caught. Me and my mate just walked away, looked at each other and laughed.

TBF at least they are buying things that improve their health. Agree with the Robocalls scooter. I have friends who have one, it's essentially just something for the cats to attack.

Our robot cleaner is superb, ours has a built in mop, which is really only good for disinfectant -Zoflora- to freshen the floor, we have real wood floors and it cleans and freshens them really well

depends what you process and it depends if you use the bike

Bought a fancy Dyson fan a couple of years ago, was sat with her one night watching a consumer programme comparing £20 argos ones with it. The outcome was not good and told her to just keep it zipped.

Oh crap we have bought both a thermomix and a robotic hoover in the past three months

The thermomix is very good and can be used to make absolutely anything from hot meals to ice cream from curry to steamed fish and so on - with step by step guide on screen - I appreciate the initial outlay is high but ours had been used pretty much everyday.

The Hoover is great also works very well and gathers a lot of dust - Returns to its parking spot when low on charge in order to recharge.

Both are good uses of technology and are functional and not just the gimic some people may view them as.
