Everton's Run in

Great result tonight, keeps it interesting at the bottom.

Hopefully Watford beat Leeds on Saturday to make it really interesting.
It's interesting how many people - not you personally I don't mean - have suddenly become Burnley fans having disliked them for so long - and now Everton are the new number 1 club to dislike.

For me....f,u.ck 'em all...it's Boro 1st 2nd 3rd 4th.....nobody else matters.

I can only really get any real dislike going for Leeds and Sunderland - and even that is only when I can be ar,s..ed

That being said, if we don't go up this year then there's no way I want Everton or Leeds in this league.

That wouldn't be interesting in the slightest under the circumstances. That would be $hit.
If Everton or Leeds go down then they deserve to.....but yeah if it negatively impacts on Boro's chances that's all that would really matter.
But would Everton be a threat if they fail the FFP tests?

It depends.

They'd have the parachutes obviously. And a few saleable assets for a decent price to mount a strong challenge.

I fear they could well be another Newcastle if they dropped.

There is something seriously wrong at Everton that will not be cured by being relegated. Everton needs to have a full clear out of players and start again.

Wow, just caught up reading about this result .. I wish I'd watched the game, now!

Seems Lampard's side does indeed have problems ... I thought they would beat Burnley tonight and be more or less out of it come a game or so

Deary me!

It never even entered my head that Burnley would not win tonight

I’ve thought Everton were in deep trouble for a while now, even with their games in hand. Can’t play away from home (their only away win was second match of the season), can’t defend -they’ve conceded 10 goals in their last three matches against the bottom 3. Their manager has no experience of a relegation fight and their fans seem to have very little hope left after years of mismanagement. The Burnley, Watford and Norwich fans have their home matches rocking, Goodson is a really difficult place for Everton to play at the moment.

As for them smashing the league if they went down…you only need to read the Everton forums to see what the supporters think of the current team. Average players paid extortionate wages. They will need to sell all their top players and will be left with pretty poor players on massive wages, leaving little room to buy decent replacement players. They bought Deli Ali in Jan who can’t even get a game and is probably on £££. They’re in an absolute mess.

Listening to Dysche on the radio - he knows how to fight.
With players worth pennies compared to the over-paid big-heads at Goodison Park - my money`s on Burnley to stay up.(y)

I'd personally be very happy with Burnley coming down, can't stand Sean Dyche.

But it's much more interesting for English football if Everton are relegated.

I have no dislike whatsoever of Everton though, just in it for the drama.

Their wage bill last season was £183m.
It would surely be a firesale if they came down. With their enormous debts and massive wages they couldn't carry that, even with parachute payments. Pickford, Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin would be first out the door, they're not going to drop down in a world cup year. Beyond that, they're very short on quality.

As funny as it'd be if they went down, they'd 100% take up a promotion place next season. If we don't go up that's bad news for us. Careful what you wish for!

Ideally we'd pass them on the way up. When was the last time we played in a division higher than Everton? 1951/52?

Possibly, but not 100%, could be more of a Leeds situation. I doubt those players have relegation clauses, and I doubt they will leave for less wages.

This is the championship it's no respecter of reputations, eats chewed up and spat out Sunderland, Leeds, and to a lessor extent Villa. Yes, they'd be massive favourites, but I don't think their squad today has the quality of Newcastle a couple of years ago, Wolves when they went up or even this years Fulham

Last night proved how vital the managerial job is in a football club.

Put Dyche in charge of Everton last night and there's no way they'd get beat.

Lampard really is a poor manager and if it wasn't for his connections in football and his incredible record as a footballer, then he'd be nowhere near a PL club.

He failed at Derby with incredible resources available to him.
He failed at Chelsea - exact same team won CL that same season.
Now he's failing at Everton.

Avoiding relegation, you need to be very difficult to beat. Goals down at the bottom for teams are normally scarce, and those with a good defence normally give themselves the best chance of staying up. Lampard can't organise a defence. He never has done at any of his previous jobs.

Everton need to sack him, if they want the best chance of survival.

You could argue Burnley know how to get out of this division more though do they’d arguably be the higher threat

as lampard couldn’t get derby up even with all those dodgy finances and mason mount.

The championship is completely new territory for Everton and it’s fans.

Nothing against Everton as a club, but it would be quite funny to see them drop after all the money their chairman has thrown at it. Looking at their team last night, it looks absolutely shocking.

Great result for the neutral last night. Keeps it interesting.
