Euro 2028 stadium list named

Interesting to see Villa Park on the list. I've always thought of it in the same bracket as Hillsborough and Elland Road, stadia of a bygone era.

I am glad that they haven't just stuffed it with London grounds, like when musicians come here on a UK tour and do three nights at the 02.
Was thinking about the London one" Not sure many would match up facilities wise: Wembley, Tottenham and Emirates definitely. London stadium? Probably. All the rest are old. I imagine the Gtech is good enough facility wise but way too small.

I don’t think it’s unexpected. The politics of the joint bid required at least one stadium in the territory of each of the five associations, neither Windsor Park nor Ravenhill are remotely big enough so it had to be a new build, and this is the only possible candidate that could be.
I guess politics also means they could never contemplate Celtic Park which is bigger than Hampden

They could have chosen the Emirates over Tottenham as the former has better transport links but the latter is probably better. London Stadium is just a poor football stadium.

Wolves 50,000 capacity? Chelsea 60,000 cpacity?

Is it certain that either of those developments is going ahead? Wolves has been on hold for years, and I hadn't heard that Chelsea had been given the go ahead either.

No Anfield, no Old Trafford.

Not really. Most tournaments feature a few newly built grounds.
I think England has always used a fairly nonsensical claim that we could "host the tournament tomorrow" if needed, which doesn't carry much weight when the tournament is in 5 years time.

Maybe a little surprised not to see Anfield or Old Trafford on the list, but I suppose both cities have more up to date facilities.
Old Trafford is in need of a serious overhaul inside and outside. There have been talks I'd modernising the ground and adding a tier to one of the stands but also talk of building a brand new one close by. Probably waiting for the world's longest takeover bid to materialise.

I'd be interested to know where these two as of yet unbuilt grounds will be.

They are already known. The new Everton stadium and one in Belfast. But both to me seem quite risky. Everyone knows the links to funding to Everton so i'd worry that gets pulled. The Belfast one needs investment from the Northern Ireland government but with the current situation still dragging on - it could have an impact on funds being released.

I think the idea is we have the infrastructure in place rather than having to build loads of stadiums. In Brazil there were protests due to the spending on huge white elephants whilst half the country lived in poverty. Not that FIFA would give a ****. This well has already been tapped. There ain't a lot more money to squeeze out of people in the UK.

Don't know why they wouldn't use the biggest club stadium in the country? Does the fact that there is another stadium in the same city that happens to be sponsored have anything to do with it?

Emirates is better than white Hart lane. It's too cramped inside the concourses, it's in Tottenham and public transport is relatively **** for london. London stadium has a hole in the middle. It's a weird place not helped by being filled with west ham fans.

I work with a season ticket holder at OT, we were talking about them building a new ground he says they need it because I'm some parts inside the ground it's falling to bits, at half time in his area the toilets are awash with a small lake of urine,.
