England U21 v Serbia U21

Wouldn’t surprise me to see Hayden fast tracked into the full England team. Apart from Rice (£105M) there are not many players who can play the disciplined defensive midfield role, hence Henderson still in the squad. Him and Lewis could play in central midfield for years to come. (y)
I thought Hackney and Lewis were an excellent pairing. They were central to making the transition from defence to attack with one-touch football.

excellent performance from him but he’ll probably be a bit disappointed in the goal we conceded, got his body shape all wrong. He’s very close to being the complete midfielder already and I think the big area he has to work on isn’t goalscoring but it’s when he’s defending 1-Vs-1 out wide. Improve that part of his game by 10% and he’ll be in the full England squad within 18 months. Because in possession he’s an absolute metronome.

Press, Press, Press, Pass, Pass, Pass. Looks like he played a great game. He does the simple stuff so well in possession, but I agree with the points above he needs to improve slightly out of possession as he seems to get caught too square on and flat footed for their goal. However, he's undoubtedly going to improve further.

I couldn't really understand the early season criticism he was getting from some people for his Boro performances as he seemed to be fairly steady away to me.

Hull City had two players in the side last night I note. Philogene and Delap who also impressed. One of them is on loan from City but shows why there has been the improvement from the Tigers.

When I heard philogene was avail I said we should have been all over that. Good player, was right handful last night

That is some team that he has forced his way into as well. He's amongst some good company there. Only going to be good for his development

Was at the game. His performance was very impressive. Considering he was played as a 6, often one of the back three he was involved in so much going forward. His neat passes are excellent.
England as a team were pulled out of shape for the Serbia's goal and that was all down to the finish anyway.

I couldn't quite see how close Hackney was to getting to the ball on their 6 yard line earlier in the first half. (Lots of kids so lots of people shifting ot get to the loo every 5 minutes). Anyone know what happened there?

Just reading about Philogene at Hull.
£5m permanent signing from Villa - Villa have a £15m 'first dibs' buyout clause.
This only triggered if both teams in same division.
These clauses seem to be getting more prevalent don't they (eg, Archer at SheffU)
Hull explain the deal here

Leads to a lot of queries T

Oops
Leads to a lot of queries though doesn't it?
What does 'first option' mean in reality???????
