England team good enough to beat Scotland

A lot of posts on social media are just about doing Scotland's team talk for them. Jamie O'Hara on Talksport this morning with Brazil & McCoist was embarrassing. It's no wonder a lot of Scots hate the English and say we're arrogant.
It's not arrogant if it's true, we have far better players, and far better form than them

I don't think we should even try to be clever with it.

Southgate should pick what he thinks is his strongest team and go all out for the win.

If we do win, we're guaranteed to have qualified and can experiment against the Czechs if need be.

It's not worth the risk of a surprise result to tinker so early when progression isn't guaranteed.
This.

However awful Scotland were the other day they will be well up for tomorrow night's game. It's a fantastic opportunity for them to seriously damage England's hopes of progressing out of the group.

Pickford

Walker Stones Maguire Shaw

Phillips

Mount Grealish

Foden Kane Sterling

ALL OUT ATTACK!

Jamie O' Hara was arrogant.

Scotland fans are clever enough to know we have a much better side than them. What irks them is saying we can field drastically weakened teams and saying things like we should put 5 past them.

Call me a pessimist, but I don't see us getting past the second round with us playing 2nd place in France's group if we finish top. Should would get all grandiose about getting one step further than Scotland?

Depends who it is, if it's Germany then we will beat them, if it's portugal it could go either way, if it's France we will need a lot of luck to win.

He's definitely told to do it.

Wind up merchant to get messages and calls from irritated listeners.

I do worry about their midfield. Don't think there's much between their midfield and ours, and think Gilmour could be one to watch if he starts.

We all know that matches between these two are never to be taken lightly. Scotland have qualified the hard way and have proved their worth since Clarke’s appointment, so I’m not expecting anything other than a very tough game.

I am not sure England have the players to pick any side to win against the might of Scotland.
That was about right. Tierney, Robertson, O'Donnell better than anything in a white shirt.

As usual with England, a motley bunch of totally, completely overrated show ponies. Mount, Kane, Stirling, Foden and Rice were rubbish.

Dykes did really well winning and holding up the ball for Scottish players to run on to.

England didn't have far better players, nobody even close to the standard of Tierney, Robertson, O'Donnell, MacGregor or McGinn. And England plainly aren't in better form.

So the usual misplaced English arrogance.

Of course we have far better players Pretty much every England player would walk into the Scotlands side if they had a kilt. Robertson would get into the England side and Tierney if Maguire wasn't fit, but that's it.

Kane or Dykes?
Mount or McGinn?
Pickford or Marshall?
Stones or Hanley?

It's a no brainer, the fact we didn't play well on the day doesn't change the quality of the players

And England plainly aren't in better form.
Englands form is good, in spite of a 0-0 yesterday, and better than Scotlands. As individuals the England players are largely in better form too, I mean many have just played in the champs league final

So the usual misplaced English arrogance.
So, again, no, England have better players, are a better team and will almost certainly go further. Well done to Scotland winning their World Cup Final 0-0, but that is as good as it's got for them in about 40 years internationally. Dragging England down to their level for a dour 0-0. I stand by my stance England are a far better team with far more potential in this competition, regardless of one poor performance.

Before the start of the tournament I expressed my concerns regarding Southgate going to into the tournament not knowing his best eleven. I'm not wondering if we're suffering because of this.

A lot was said about how well Scotland played as a team last night. There were too many English players playing within themselves. Many have said they played like a team of strangers, and is it any wonder when you consider they haven't actually had much experience of playing together.

I think back to the two friendlies at the Riverside. I could understand Southgate not wanting to play any of the players who'd played in the CL final in the first game, but there was no reason why they couldn't have played in the 2nd game in my opinion. Instead, we had a mish-mash of players playing, some who didn't even end up making the final squad. Complete madness and frankly it was a waste of time looking back.

Southgate should have used it as an opportunity to field the team he was likely to go with at the tournament, and give the likes of Mount, Grealish and Foden a chance to play together and get to know eachothers games a bit better (because all 3 should be starting together in my opinion).
