England players arriving at rockcliffe

I can’t be the only one who finds it mental that there are football fans who don’t recognise players in the national team squad ahead of a major tournament.
People are talking about how Foden, Mount, James and Chilwell are potentially going to be the stars of Euro 2020 and if they walked past me on the street I genuinely wouldn't recognise any of them. I think I've just become jaded by football over the last 10 years or so, I really only focus on Boro now. Seems crazy to me too but there it is.

It's not mental, but it is strange that it's framed in a way that makes it seem like it's England's fault that the fans in question don't watch top flight football.

Without trying to be disrespectful, I think it's an age thing.

defo an age thing. Very recognisable players, they play for England ffs.

The full back from Brighton - I'd not even heard of when the squad was announced. Would struggle with identifying Godfrey and probably most of the keepers apart from Pickford.

I try to stay up for motd but I usually fall asleep by half time of the first match. It probably is an age thing - there was a time when I would have watched every game on tv, but that would have been a champ league match midweek and maybe one or two games over the weekend. It's hard to keep up these days and champs league not being on free to air doesn't help matters.

It’s not like they haven’t been getting tested multiple times a week for the last 15 months.

It would’ve made more sense for them to meet up at St George’s and all get tested there and then when given the all clear they could all travel up together. Much better than sitting in the back of a car on your own for 3 or 4 hours.
That does make sense but the approach England have taken also makes sense. It minimises the chances of several players having to self isolate should one test positive.

I haven't watch MOTD for 4 years and don't have Sky Sports Channels, except SSN so I just hear the names. There is just too much football nowadays.
