Elton John @ Stadium of Light

Well I saw Elton at London road Peterborough a few years ago.

He can still belt out a ballad.

Ticket was bought for me, no idea how much.

Horses for courses.

Oh and he’s LGBT royalty 👍🌈

Par for the course these days sadgit

Guess the productions have all got more sophisticated these days with video screens and backgrounds and all that and are more expensive to put on.

The Stones ‘No Filter’ tour took $415 million for about 60 shows in 2021. They’re back out again doing bits and pieces…$10 million a gig. I know the Zimmer frame roadie.

Anyone else going? any travel recommendations for people driving from Yarm way?

Seems like getting a metro to the stadium is a good idea, but unsure how close to get before swapping to the metro
Matt, there were lots of complaints about the Metro after Ed Sheeran with reports of people waiting 2 hours to get on one, the second night they said they would put more trains on but I don't know how that went...
My advice would be to come up the A19 and take the A1018 into Sunderland but park up South of the River near the Sunderland Empire Cinema and try and make a sharp exit from the concert if possible, . High Street East area is a decent shout off the A1018. I would avoid multi storey car parks. Even there the traffic was busy after but retrace your steps down the A1018 and back onto A19 South

You can just walk over the bridge to SOL from there or into the town centre beforehand.
Thanks 👍

Yes , park on Wayfarer Road . For your satnav it is SR5 3XA.

They will likely close Keir Hardie Way for the concert , but if you come off the roundabout to the postcode I have given you, you will be able to park there . You can also turn right onto Inkerman Street , there are a few trade centre car parks there , Plumbase is a good one . You can have a wee in the alley behind it .

From there you will be able to see the Stadium of Light , just walk up a gentle slope and along. Maybe 10 minutes tops .

After the event , you will be straight out onto Wessington Way , and onto the A19.

Trust me , I have parked there for getting on 25 years .

If you are having a drink , or your chick is , probably dont go in the Colliery Tavern . Very bad queues for the ladies toilets . Fan Zones are very good , but pricy.
I would go past the Stadium , turn right and go over the bridge into the City . Lots of bars there

Whatever you do DONT go over the bridge near where you have parked. There is nothing for you over there .

I know someone who booked Elton John and Rod Stewart to play a private gig for him last year on the same night at his house - this persons home is fecking massive mind
