Dyche sacked

I didn't advocate getting rid of Wilder but nobody is irreplaceable, and Steve Gibson might consider for a while, even if he does turn it down. Is there any evidence that Burnley are interested or is just speculation?

Gibson would be an idiot to consider it in my opinion. Wilder has the team playing well and in a good style and he's had recent experience of promotion from this division. If I was Wilder I would hold out because I think either he gets us up or a better Premier league team comes sniffing anyway. Burnley aren't an attractive prospect at the moment.

The speculation has come from his odds being low with the bookies which means very little. I wouldn't panic about it at the moment.

Shame, that. No matter what one might feel about Douchey, the bloke's performed miracles to keep Burnley in the top flight for the past six years. Might even say he deserved better.

Burnley must be rebuilding for next season in the championship, Evertons win over Man U looks to have just about saved them.

Apparently his net spend since 2015 was 21mil. I mean what the f*ck do they expect. The laughable thing is he's reputedly receiving 15mil pay off.

Almost as much 😂

I mean many clubs have worse net spend figures in the championship trying to get promoted.

It’s brilliant because it brings an end to an era of boring football tactics and Burnley will drift now. Gradually
Good riddance.

I disagree with both points.

First, that style of football is never going to go away while it continues to have success. It's only a matter of time before someone else reaches the PL playing that style. It may be Luton this season. Some of the exponents of it will hang around for a period of time too, as Burnley have done.

Second, I think it's a good thing that at least 1 team playing this style is in the PL though, slightly hypocritically, I'd hate it to be my team. However, a large part of what makes football the best sport in the world is the diversity and contrast of styles. The thought of 20 teams all trying to play possession-based football makes me shudder. I do think it has an important footballing consequence too. Quite often Bolton or Stoke turned out to be the acid test for Arsenal during their rivalry with Manchester United; real champions should be able to cope with all styles that their opponents throw at them. The likes of Wenger have had to resort to childish insults such as "anti-football" when their opponents haven't rolled over and made it easy for them, When we have flat rate squad budgets across all 20 teams, I might accept that there's no justification for playing that way; until then, it's a good thing if the oiks rough up the toffs from time to time.
