Dry January

Anyone else still doing it?
Any benefits you can see/feel?
I’m missing having a drink on a weekend but am considering extending it for a little while and see where it leads to.

Yep, still going along with the missus. I don’t have an urge for a beer which is surprising me. Evenings of fruity tea are working, smashing through earl grey rooibos. Rock and roll.

Aiming to get through to 9 Feb when I’m out at a gig, but will probably have a couple of glasses of wine next Saturday.

Longer term I need to pack in the casual lager in the week.

Lost about 5lbs since 1 Jan - loads of exercise too, and on the downside lots of solid Christmas cake too.

Well done on the weight loss. I’m actually a bit disappointed I’ve ‘only‘ lost 6 pounds. I definitely had some excess to lose as I’ve gained a lot over the last 2 years. I’m trying not to be too critical on myself as it is a good achievement and has been hard graft in the gym to shift some timber.

I feel sharper at work too!

I don’t have any plans in Feb that will involve around alcohol so I’m planning to refrain again. Another 6lbs would be awesome.

Only really drink on the odd occasion with friends so a dry January sort of comes naturally

Food is my problem, I love it and eat way too much of it, trying to lose weight but going the other way slightly at the moment

Really wishing the time away to when the weather turns so I can get out walking again

Since I gave up all animal products I’ve lost about 10 pounds. Still had a couple of drinking sessions.

But I always find the first stone comes off quite easily. It’s if I ever wanna lose more than that it gets hard. Ideally I wanna be back under 13.

I stopped drinking and started to eat better and train for 45 minutes 3 times on a weight loss programme. Lost 17lb in first two weeks and just over 20lb at the of third week. Surprisingly have not missed the beer and happy to have a lime and soda in the pub. Definitely quickly reaffirmed that it was a really straightforward thing for me to lose weight - eat right, cut out the lager and do a bit in the gym. Hope to get 30lb off by the end of the 6 weeks I signed up for👍

Lasted about a week, had a stressful week at work went to the pub and had 3-4 pints. It actually helped and realised I don’t even drink that often normally so stopping completely was pointless as I still enjoy a drink on occasion.

For weight loss, best thing I did was buy a scale. It’s boring but weighing my food and counting calories helped massively for me. As long as it fit into my total calorie intake for the week I could still have beers and lose weight.

Still going. After a while it becomes quite easy - as long as you don't go out to the pub. I dont feel any great craving for alcohol. The most difficult time is in the evening when I'm bored.

I jus wrote a long reply and lost it and can't be arsed typing it all again, basically I've decided DJ was just the start and have given it up for good for health reasons and already feel much better and have lost quite a bit of weight. Plenty of good AF options available when I fancy a beer or am in a social situation. Went to a Burns night last night and didn't miss the whisky....much. ;)

I am pretty much AF exclusively at home now. Drink when I go out. There are some decent options on the internet. The Cloudwater stuff is as good as it gets AF-wise I think.

I had a bad chest infection that started on New Year's Day and I didn't have a drink because of that. I've recently got over it and decided to keep off the drink and carry on with dry January. Last night was the only time I nearly wavered when the wife put a bottle of wine on the table with our evening meal.

I haven't weighed myself but feel I have lost weight and can take my belt buckle in a notch.

Downside - I've p1ssed off a few posters on here through being blunt. ;)
