This. Instead of going totally dry, I stopped drinking in the house, and during the week, which has been ace for my waistline, but the nights out I've had drinking on a weekend this month have been some of the best times, which, probably due to me, I wouldn't have enjoyed so much if I was sober.

Life for me would have been a lot shorter if I hadn’t quit. Could have easily drunk myself to an early grave.
