He's in a bind now and his social and public media history is nibbling at his ass constantly.
On one hand he's calling it fake news based on illegally obtained information. If it's been illegally obtained then it has to be real surely?
In the debates when Hilary accused him of paying no tax he said that was because he was smart so he was admitting to tax avoidance at the minimum.
The biggest quandary he faces though is that his claim that he's a brilliant business person. If he's filing losses from all his businesses to avoid tax then he either has to go against his ego and say he is rubbish at running a business or he admits to fabricating his income to the IRS and committing tax fraud rather than avoidance.
Given all the tax he has paid outside the US in places governed by autocratic leaders he'll also be under investigation from a counter-intelligence point as to what leverage some people and countries have over him.
Same here with Brexit and the Tories. It's fascinating really.
I always think in conversations like this it's worth repeating the following, well-trodden, stat:
A million seconds is 12 days.
A billion seconds is 31 years
The difference between million and billion is enormous. Nobody deserves to be, or should even be able to be, a billionaire and when someone that rich fiddles their taxes to save money, well that's just obscene. Nobody who comes from where we all do should be defending such people.
Isn't a billionaire someone who has 1000 million, whereas your example is taking a billion as a million millions?
There's a Presidential historian called John Meacham and he pointed out that in 1968, George Wallace got 13% of the popular vote with a racist campaign. Trump got 46% in 2016. For a lot of Americans, they simply don't care about politics and will probably think Trump has done nothing wrong and will continue to support him based on what they've been told he is, not what they've determined him to be through their own analysis.
The same could be said for the mantra of the Tories being good with money and delivering Brexit. The reality of what else they are up to won't register with a lot of voters.
