Don’t you love how ex pros use the championship as an insult

You’d get away with that in the championship or it’s the sort of thing you’d see in the championship.

Shows the two tier attitude that runs through the English game.

He's not wrong. The Premier League is a much higher standard and you do get away with mistakes more in the Championship.
It’s not the conference though the way some go on.

Many who say it never actually played in it either like Gary Neville carragher etc.

It shows complete disrespect to fellow footballers as well as being a put down to supporters of any club below the prem.

There is a lot about the football world which is completely unhealthy from this sort of rubbish to the ‘who’s got the most money’ competition which it has become. The commentator on the Newcastle Fulham match mentioned ‘all these financial restrictions’ which are affecting the clubs as if it were a bad thing.

If it wasn’t for my obsession with the Boro I would happily bin it off.

Isn’t that comparison essentially the same logic as the one you’re complaining about?

The gap may be broader but essentially you’re using a league’s supposed lower standard to critique something poor in a higher division.

It’s not a comparison though, it’s a put down as how can they compare when they’ve never played it.

That’s the point it’s like when people say it about Scottish football.

I think every player in the Championship would use the same phrase and I’m not sure how it puts fans down 🤷‍♂️
Fans make the same distinction on this board between the Championship and the lower divisions. Which isn't a problem either, it's the reality.

I know, when watching Billy Town, that the chances we give away would be more severely punished had we been playing teams from the higher division.

I've heard fans on this forum say very similar things about league one. Players being "league one standard". "He'll be playing in league one in a couple of years". Etc...

It's a fact that you'd get away with a lot more in the championship than you would in the PL - It's a worse standard of football.

Unless you’ve played at championship or conference level then you could be asked the same thing?
