Does Carrick actually know

I have a feeling he as an abundance of riches at his disposal but is nowhere near finding the right formula. A bit like Southgate in the Euros in my opinion.

I think Conway is now nailed on. I think ELL is nailed on, but needs to find his shooting boots and confidence. I think McGree is our first choice, but yet to be available. I think Forss would probably compete closely with Izzy for the other spot, so I think that’s the one we’re not 100% on. Doak could quite easily usurp them both.
Azaz, Burgzorg, Gilbert and Hamilton all offer different attributes and cover, so will be utilised accordingly.

No Jones?

We have really missed McGree - he does a lot of link up play. With Conway/Lath playing together on the weekend, Azaz was the only player linking things, it was less about the small triangles we try to play.

We have options now.

I'm not convinced we will be at our best with both Conway/Lath. Even though they are both individually good.

We have had more chances than the opposition in every game this season (except cup match). It is partially about finding someone to put the ball in the net... Jones, Azaz, Lath, Conway, McGree, Forss have all shown they can score goals at this level to varying degrees.

To a certain extent I would play to form - Start Conway up top, I'd put Azaz back to 10, McGree on the left and Doak on the right.

But with a view to be willing to change it earlier.

We’ve brought in 4 new attacking players. I’m sure he’d have preferred to start with Riley, Azaz, Jones and Latte for the majority of the earlier games as they’re already established from last season. The injury to McGree wasn’t ideal.

It will take a little bit of time for those forward players to gel. I like the idea of Lath / Conway as a 9 and 10 but that understanding will take time and Conway has only really played as a striker at Bristol so will also take a bit of time to learn that position.

We have options and some of the younger lads will hopefully improve and get stronger over the coming months.

If injuries are kind too, it gives us more flexibility to change things when players lose and gain form.

We have to give Carrick a chance to see a few combinations ,but we have a great squad .
Up front, Conway looks good , Doak is going to be a guaranteed selection shortly I think ,no one is guaranteed a place, so Latte get a grip man, knock a few in.

Feels a bit unfair to expect him to have it nailed down when there have been disruptions and fitness issues.

Latte Lath's clearly first choice striker.

He's definitely trying to play Conway in the Akpom role, but he obviously signed after the season started, so you can't expect him to have started games before he got bedded in here.

McGree's injury issues mean the left hand side hasn't been settled.

Jones has been undisputed first choice on the right for this season, Doak might take his place as time goes on.

He'd have named an unchanged side for the last two matches if not for the Latte Lath situation.

For all the attacking talent brought in this season for now our best foward line for me is still

Jones/forss---------—------------mcgree
----—-----------------azaz---------
------------------------------latte

No. I don’t think he does. What I would say is Conway has to play. He’s excellent.

Soak will be pushing jones hard for that right wing spot after a number of underwhelming performances.

Left is McGree if fit. Where does lath fit? Azaz? I don’t know either unless we change formation

Don't forget Forss in the right spot when he's fit which apparently is less than a month away.

But I agree Conway has to play on what we've seen so far. I'd rather see him as a 9. Once McGree is fit, it will force Carrick to show his hand. Either Conway, Azaz or Lath will have to make way.

We signed a lot of players again this season, they need time to adjust and bed in to the new area and surroundings and make connections on and off the pitch, they’re human beings. How many people start new jobs in offices and factories that take time to acclimatise?

We saw last season that patience proved the key, we are ahead of where we were last year in what was an arguably tougher league. If we are not in the top 6 come mid may, then people can rightly have a whinge, but lets give the team at least 10 games to settle down.

Most teams in this league have half a dozen additions to their squads who likewise have to make connections. They seem to do it quicker than us!

that's probably because a very technical and tactical game. It takes longer to learn it. But it also means the teams ceiling is higher too.

Given that we are 10th and by your logic 9 teams have done it quicker and 14 haven't. Not sure that equates to most?
