Do you have a foreign team you support/follow?

Obviously with Akpom going to Ajax i've been following their results this season, but generally....nah.

I always want Barcelona to beat Real Madrid in El Clasico, though.

Used to follow Barcelona, but I'd be quite happy if they went under now.

I keep a close eye on Bayern Munich now Kane has signed for them, I hope they win the league this year for him, despite usually really wanting them to slip up.

As a football mad kid in the 90’s it was not possible to follow Gazetta Football Italia. Some iconic players, teams and strips from that time.

I had two favourites from then. The Sampdoria team that got to the old European Cup Final in 92 and Milan, who had incredible players in that time.

Spain has always been Valencia for their kit and badge, plus a certain Mendieta, who was outstanding for about 3 years. Plus the fact they are not Barca and Real Madrid.

Germany has always been Dortmund, but with Kane now in Munich, I don’t mind seeing FC Hollywood winning.

Ajax is another team I like to see do well in European competition. Some incredible football and players over the last few decades.

As with most others, there’s teams that I have picked for whatever reason that I have a preference for over others but very far from ‘supporting’. Mainly based on kits.

Scotland - Rangers (lots of Dad’s family support them but the whole religion thing with them and Celtic is a big turn off)

Holland - Ajax (Cruyff and the kit)

France - Marseille (kit)

Spain - Villarreal (kit)

Italy - Fiorentina (Batistuta and kit)

Germany - St Pauli or Dortmund (fans)

Argentina - Boca (kit)

Brazil - São Paulo (Juninho)

1860 München. I live in Munich and my wife and father in law have season tickets. I’ve been a number of times and it‘s awesome going to the home games. All standing behind the goal with the ultras. It’s a proper Ayresome Park vibe. Drinking beer also allowed in the stands.

The team are really bad and are near the foot of the 3rd division. It doesn’t stop them being completely sold out every week and it’s really not easy getting tickets.

Yes, this season I do keep an eye on Ajax, Bayern Munich, Girona and Real Madrid.

USG, I went to their ground years ago, it's pretty small but it's class, set in a park.

They happen to be doing pretty well these days and have a former Boro player at the heart of their defence.

Real Madrid. My wife is from Madrid and her family are season ticket holders. During my time living there I took her brothers ticket for the season as he had little interest in going. So I went to pretty much every home game during the 21/22 season when they won the champions league. It was hard not to get swept up in it all, especially having watched the epic CL games against Chelsea, Man City and PSG.

Back in the days of “Eurogoals”(what a Programme that was) I followed SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie.

Now I get to check the score and that’s it

Queen of the South.

Stems from an enjoyable and long stint at managing them on Football Manger years ago.

They're a bit like Boro too, they win f-all and always let you down at the end of the day :ROFLMAO:

Atletico Madrid

I lived in Madrid for quite a long time and just always felt more drawn to Atletico. They're quite like the Boro in many ways and their supporters adopt a similar fatalistic approach.

It couldn't be more different to FC Hollywood then!

I use to work with a star player from Buckie Thistle. Or at least a retired star.
Many years ago, before I was born, an extended family member (my Great Aunt's partner) was their commercial manager. He'd worked previously for West Ham, Villa and other big clubs in a similar role so it was a very strange decision. But apparently he agreed to go there on the basis that he got a percentage of every bit of merchandise they sold. He then did very well for himself by introducing scratch cards and all sorts to their usual range of merchandise!
