Djiksteel moving on at the end of the season ?

He has been faultless the last 3 games in the new set up. At least admit that. He’s doing really well. I too would like a younger RB signed and to have only one of Smith or Ayling around next season.
To be fair he has looked decent in the last 3 games but looked terrible early on not sure if that was the formation or just settling in but think it would be a bit of a risky signing, out of the two would go for Smith 100% he certainly deserves it based on his performances over the last 2 years, he makes a big positive difference to the defence when he is playing.

I really like Dijksteel but his injury record does concern me. It’s a shame as he really should just be hitting his prime years.

I'd keep Smith over Ayling, as I think we should be signing a new long term first choice right back in the summer.

Smith's under contract and he's coming back from a serious injury so would understand being back-up.

Ayling left Leeds because he wants to play.

It be one of those situations of " how come he didn't put in those performances for us" when he gets a run and game time at another club, he can be a class player who is capable of playing at a higher level if he stays injury free and is trusted with game time.

I thought that he looked quality under Warnock and around that sort of time. He seemed to have developed into a good solid championship player. Injuries have not helped, but his cameo appearances under Carrick have not been very impressive at all and I think it's time to move him on.

I like Dijksteel. I don't feel he's a had a run in the team under MC, or a chance to get up to full match sharpness.

However, I assume that is for a reason: there may be something in his game that MC does not fancy, and I am prepared to back his judgement.
IF AD moves on, it's with my best wishes for the future.
Carrick is not always right. See Muniz and Payero both starting atm for brtter clubs than us. Neither got a decent run of games under MC.

Where has this "Ayling doing well" come from, 1 good game (the last one) in 8 doesn't cut the mustard, we can surely do better than him
When Ayling has been good, he has been excellent and arguably MOTM. However, in the other games, of which there has been more, he has been truly awful and the worst player on the pitch by a mile. These games have tended to be when he has been Full back though. The switch to a 5 has done him the world of good.

He was MOTM against Leicester in a back 4 so you're simply wrong....👍

Dijksteel can go for me he hasn't developed under carrick. I would like us to sign an good dynamic young right back in place of him
RB has been a position we have needed to strengthen for as long as I can remember. Has always seemed to be a position where we "mend and make do".

Smith did well last season, so it wasn't a priority in the summer, but an upgrade was certainly needed.

Dijksteel needs to move on, not deemed good enough by the last 2 managers. He's 27 now and not going to improve. Even if he does go I still wouldn't sign Ayling, go out invest in a younger 1st team right back and have smith as back up.

If we go into the season with Ayling and Smith, we'll be in the same situation next summer needing a right back

Dijksteel was decent under Warnock and Wilder but it's obvious that Carrick doesn't rate him.

Ayling has been up and down, mainly down to be fair.

Smith has had a major injury and at his age he may struggle to get back to his best.

New right back required with either of the more senior players retained as back up if affordable.

Djiksteel's best form came when he played as a CB as part of a back 3, under Warnock and Wilder. He's always been inconsistent playing RB.

I actually think it's a shame no Boro manager has tried him as a DM. It's where he started his career playing.

Maybe we sign Ayling and loan out smith? And sign a younger right back. Might see Ayling as an upgrade on Smith.

I’d be happy with one or the other but probably not both.
Isn't Terrell Agyemang a young right back? maybe he steps up!
