Djed Spence

Bring him back!
What drugs are people on? Honestly. Bring him back. Seriously why would anyone say this in public. Sorry LaPenna there is no way in hell we would ever want the spoilt brat back. He is disruptive individual. He is not a team player. The one thing that sticks out in my head with this tosser is the picture of him with a big stogy hanging out his mouth when they won promotion. Someone once said (think it was Walnock) that he will either make it big or end up in the national league or something like that. Looks to me he is heading for the national league within a few years. I would not touch this brat with a 6 foot pole. How we got what 20 million for him is beyond me.

It was Warnock.

Spence put that pic on twitter and tagged Warnock immediately following the play off final win, which says a lot about his attitude. Didn't like it that Warnock had told him a few home truths. Rather than enjoy his achievement, couldn't wait to publicly gloat.

I'm certainly no Warnock fan, but credit where it's due. He just responded with dignity by congratulating Spence.

Seems like he needs a manager who's going to babysit him 24/7 and constantly tell him how amazing he is. Few coaches are going to be willing to do that, certainly not PL ones and nor should they. It's not practical and he's certainly nowhere near good enough to be treated as a special case.

Kid seems to think he's "made it" now and thanks to Spurs is probably worth a few million which is also going to impact his motivation. Wouldn't go anywhere near him.

People seem to forget that when he was at Forest they played a system where he played as a RWB, with a right sided centre back behind him, and Brennan Johnson, the divisions outstanding player, as a right winger in front of him.

For all his "success" that season, I was never convinced he would go on to have a stellar career, without some marked improvements.

I believe Frank Gray is his Grandad, and Andy Gray is his Dad.
That's correct - and as @Quicksilvera alluded to, he's a great-nephew of Eddie Gray. He's also a cousin once removed (I think that's the right term) of Stuart Gray, who played for Celtic and Bournemouth, among others.

So yes, one heck of a footballing family, the Grays.

I thought we had Spurs eyes out at the time; it's just a pity we're unlikely to see any add ons.

I did think DS's behaviour to Warnock was shameful. In fairness to NW, he gave Spence every chance: frequently picking him despite the criticism of many posters on here. That Spence didn't make the grade is down to Spence, not to Warnock.

There are mounting instances of failure with attitude and application being spoken about.

He’s had one good season in the Championship. Even if he got his mind right he’d only ever be a top six champ / relegation fighting prem player.

I think he might be headed for <200 career appearances and wasting around league 1/2 standard.

He's still young and can get his career back on track. Looks like he hasn't done himself many favours at Leeds (maybe not applying himself fully after his injury). I wouldn't write him off as 'non-league' yet!

I've knocked our recruitment and transfer fees (spent and recouped) plenty of times over the years but the deal we did for Spence is some of the best business anyone has ever done. Those televised cup ties for Forest made us a fortune.
