Disappointed at our lack of signings pre season

After a clear out was announced I was hoping we would see a big influx of players for us to START the season. Sadly, this hasn’t materialised. We’ve one signing- who looks crocked before kicking a ball in anger. A one dimensional striker whose main attribute is his size. A keeper largely unproven and tested. A utility defender who could turn out to be anything and Crooks- I feel the best of our signings.

Creating and scoring goals really is will be our achilles heal. I don’t see the quality needed in both areas. I hope when we finally announce our Argentina midfielder that will solve one issue to a large extent. Tav does look very injury prone which is a great shame.

I sincerely hope we get in another 5 or so - presently we have neither the quality in all areas and numerically lacking the numbers needed for a gruelling 46 game league season.
And there was me thinking we have done better than most.

Better send my ticket back.

I understand the situation perfectly. We unfortunately are not the number one choice for a lot of players. We need a long list of targets to counter this. If we do have such a list it isn’t materialising.
I do tire of the feeble attempts to justify why we are where we are. We knew numerically we needed lots of bodies in when the last season concluded - and we haven’t managed it.

The loan market - which is where some are pinning their hopes- will be more competitive than ever. And that could well be a problem for us
Also, we do not need numbers. Boro need QUALITY. I’d rather they waited and got the man they wanted rather than splash a few million over someone who doesn’t strengthen the team. The youths fill out the squad. If we strengthen the team the squad takes care of itself. We stockpiled players under Mowbray, Monk and Karanka and became a mess.

With respect OP imho i rate our manager and club hierarchy a lot more than us fans. Let them do their job and resist sounding like a Mackem/Mag .
If end of window we are still goosed , then let rip

When Karanka took us into the play-offs he had to wait until the end of August for Bamford, Clayton and Vossen. Sometimes you just need to be patient until the deals can be completed.

Warnock has already added five seniors. Payero is apparently done and dusted so there’s another. Bamba and Paterson will probably get a deal for the season. That’s eight, with the club actively looking for more, so where do we draw the line here? 10? 11? A dozen? Ship Spence out and spend the money on the 14, 15th signings? It’s mad.

22 seniors with a strong youth set up should be enough for any club.
We have 20 seniors.

Akpomb is likely to go as is Stojonovic, Fisher is out for the season and Browne is just coming back from long term injury so that's 17 if you include Browne. Plus the U23's who've played a handful of games between them.

Anfernee Dijksteel
Chuba Akpom
Dael Fry
Darnell Fisher
Dejan Stojanovic (GK)
Djed Spence
Duncan Whatmore
Grant Hall
Hayden Coulson
Joe Lumley (GK)
Jonny Howson
Lee Peltier
Marc Bola
Marcus Browne
Marcus Tavernier
Matt Crooks
Paddy McNair
Sammy Ameobi
Samy Morsy
Uche Ikpeazu

I think Sivi, Jones, Folarin, Malley, Hackney, Coburn will get game time this season. They might have too!
I hope they do - I'd rather see them playing than bring in some journeyman on a one year contract (or worse 2 or more and the new manager is stuck with them........)

Even if we get the players in time its going to be at least September before they are up to speed with the squad. As it stands this squad is way worse than the one that finished last season
It is wafer thin, hopefully the young lads can make the step up, but we still need to produce a striker through the academy, that would be great

If we want the better quality players loan/perm there usually last in so atleast we’re not just loading numbers in , we might aswell play our kids than do that . Quality over quantity any day . 3-5 will trickle in over the next month .

I see people say oh we've bought 5 or 6 players etc but as usual we haven't yet addressed any of the flaws from last season. no wingers, no strikers, no left sided cb, no cover at left back.

we've lost or losing 4 out of our 5 top scorers from last season and any width we had we have let go, creativity was a major issue last season and our team creativity wise is inferior.

its always the case we say oh theres another month left, then 3 weeks, then 2 and then the deadline ticks by and we end up short.

i dont think its a disaster but it is a little worrying.

You don't seem to understand that to get the players you want in, you may have to wait. You may be in competition with other clubs. You may have players that want to wait to see what other offers materialise. And clubs that are waiting on other transfers before selling. And so if you want players in quick there is likely to be a compromise in quality.

I would have thought this was obvious.
It is obvious but when has that fact stopped created new threads 😂
