Dieng, Coulson, Silvera

The only positives today.

Dieng made some good saves and looked very similar to how Steffen played.

Coulson was good first half but was rightly subbed in the second half.

Silvera was a breath of fresh air. The only player who wanted to beat a man and get a cross or shot in.

We are miles off being a top 6 team. God forbid if Akpom leaves.

Yeah I think that’s fair. Coulson isn’t great but he put a shift in today and done some good tackles. Needs to stop diving when he’s touched though.

New left back signing soon hopefully.

Silvera looks a proper player.

Thought Silvera should have started. He looked good in preseason and didn’t deserve to be on the bench.

Dieng looked very calm and collected. Made a few good saves, nothing he could have done for their goal.

Coulson was a mixed bag. Definitely shouldn’t be our starting left back for the season.

Coulson worries me, he gets brushed off the ball too easily whilst not offering enough going the other way.

I love dieng and silvera though, how good was that 1 v1 save from dieng and he looks as comfortable on the ball as a CB, silvera left, Jones right, chuba picking the passes and getting the returns could be brilliant.

Rogers looked game to me. Clearly not a CF, but didn't hide.

Problem is a rookie CF with Crooks as a 10 left him with way to much attention from the defence. The extra quality and threat Chuba offers in that role would make it easier for Rogers to learn the position.

But to be honest, I'd rather see a natural striker up there and let Rogers find his feet in his preferred position.

First 15mins Coulson was awful, left their number 2 in acres and never challenged a cross, but then something changed, he became more aggressive and assertive and the rest of the first half was good. His positioning needs work. Having him as cover I can live with but not as a regular starter.

I think we've got the basis of a side good enough to challenge the play-off places, if we add a LB and centre forward (or two).

Coulson looks very lightweight to me, he was knocked off the ball too much today, but we know that the club will bring in another LB ahead of him anyway.

I've said all summer that our first 11 will almost certainly be weaker than that which finished last season, but hopefully we can pull a couple of rabbits out of the hat and Chuba signs a new contract - if that happens we'll be in and around the top 6.

We desperately need a no.9, we effectively had two no.10's with Crooks and Rogers today.
