The Baseball Ground was a rough place to go to in the 70's but the Boro always seemed to travel there in numbers. The houses on the road leading up to the ground reminded me of Ayerome Park but the Middlesbrough houses weren't as close. The noise inside the ground was always loud and a little intimidating as a teenager.Me too, remember, 1975, the walk to the ground when houses, shop windows in a couple of streets very close to the ground were boarded up, I couldnt believe my eyes
I also remember the windows being boarded up and their fans coming out of the alleys to confront the Boro fans.
I also love attending Pride Park and feel they did a lot more with their ground than the Boro did and I am not talking about Mel's dodgy dealings. My son and I managed to get into the bar/restaurant near the players entrance which is only for home fans. The setup was brilliant, with a good choice of beers and the food was decent. The staff knew we were Boro but allowed us to remain and enjoy the day.
I always thought the atmosphere was sterile compared to the Old Baseball Ground.
