Derby , again

Me too, remember, 1975, the walk to the ground when houses, shop windows in a couple of streets very close to the ground were boarded up, I couldnt believe my eyes
The Baseball Ground was a rough place to go to in the 70's but the Boro always seemed to travel there in numbers. The houses on the road leading up to the ground reminded me of Ayerome Park but the Middlesbrough houses weren't as close. The noise inside the ground was always loud and a little intimidating as a teenager.

I also remember the windows being boarded up and their fans coming out of the alleys to confront the Boro fans.

I also love attending Pride Park and feel they did a lot more with their ground than the Boro did and I am not talking about Mel's dodgy dealings. My son and I managed to get into the bar/restaurant near the players entrance which is only for home fans. The setup was brilliant, with a good choice of beers and the food was decent. The staff knew we were Boro but allowed us to remain and enjoy the day.

I always thought the atmosphere was sterile compared to the Old Baseball Ground.

Yep agree with that Norman_Conquest, apart from comparing the BG to PP, I've not been to PP

I dont think you could transfer the atmosphere that was created at a small, tight ground to a big, open stadium

Let’s how they feel when the reality of the fixture lists come out.
I remember when John Neal, excellent Boro manager, came & his 1st signing he broke our transfer record when paying Stoke City £90k for John Mahoney

Stoke were in the 2nd division then when Middlesbrough came calling, JM has gone on record as saying he didnt want to leave Stoke, but looked at the fixtures & seen on the opening game of the season Stoke were away to Mansfield Town & we were home to Liverpool, no contest he said & signed for the mighty Boro

Another good signing by Neal.

derby have 5 players under contract for next season - the rest will require new deals - Rooney said last week he will need 40 players across the club.

their fans are crowdfunding for £6,000 so that they can do a flag display for the last game of the season V Cardiff - they may be better off just giving the crowd funding direct to the club to pay for next seasons grass seed for the pitch..

My one visit to the BG was first match back in division one in '88 after Brucie's bounce back. Played OK but lost 1-0, main memory is of very loud singing of "Peter Shilton f**ks alsatians"!
It was the game I remember Gary Gill receiving the ball in midfield, then doing a 180 degree turn, looking up purposefully to find a red shirt then simply passing the ball straight out of play 😮

Looks like they`re enjoying their last games in the Championship season:
Hope the weather`s fine.

I remember that. It was the first time I had seen entire streets boarded up. It was like a war zone. Pretty much looked like what the bottom end of union st ended up looking like..

Went with a mate on my motorbike that year. Think we got beat 4-0 or 4-1. Throttle on my bike snapped and the chain jumped off and snapped some teeth on the sprocket. Fella who owned a bike repair shop fixed it all for me and charged me the grand total of 80p for some bolts and 3 hrs work. Said it would have been £40 if we had beat them 😄.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's the current situation with their finances? Is this guy Kirchner really going to buy the club or not? If so, when would he do it? And is there a deadline for the sale before they get liquidated?

It's an absolute joke how long that club have been in administration.

Would the powers that be have allowed things to continue as long if it was Morecambe or Forest Green ?

It still feels like they are pulling the wool over everyone's eyes and they are a protected species because they were a founder member club.

I actually didn't mind Derby before all this nonsense but after their fans behaviour towards our club and disgusting song about Steve Gibson I hope they disappear into oblivion.

Macclesfield, Oldham, Bury +++ go to the wall whilst Derby appear to receive "special" treatment [?].
Scanning through the Derby Telegraph, the "preferred bidder" Kirchner, responded to Derby Fans following the Fans-Lead Review of English Football. He stated "I am not yet the owner...", but will be prepared to meet with fans once the purchase of Derby has been confirmed. I wonder if New Years Eve might be the next "deadline" for the agreed take-over.
Why are a bankrupt club allowed to carry on "trading" whilst the rest of the League stick to the rules, particularly FFP?

Are the likes of Tom Lawrence still picking up over 30k a week and Wayne Rooney reportedly double that ?
How would you feel as a creditor if you were getting 20p in the pound of what you are owed?
The whole thing stinks, the powers that be should have wound Derby up a long time ago.
If you play with fire you get burnt.
Thank god for Steve Gibson
