That's the headline but he went on to say thankfully it isn't actual war. and there in lies the key. HE knows his army would be obliterated in a conventional war withing 3 days, his power would collapse and he would be ousted.

In an unconventional war, 99% of russians would be dead.

He's playing the hardman, but deep down he's just a common bully, and bullies are almost always that way because they know they are weak people.

yup, if he pulls out, he shows weakness and he's done for
if he keeps murdering sanctions will be longer and deeper
if he keeps taking rights away from the people, there will be a revolt

He's massively over reached, and is desperate for a way out now. I think he'll pull back to the 2 eastern provinces, and claim that is all he wanted. But he'll scorch as much as possible first. This means sanctions will be kept in place, and Ukraine will be added to the EU and Finland and Sweden to NATO. A truly terrible result for russia

NATO wouldn't just have the Russian forces to deal with. That is the issue. Pockets of armed conflict would erupt in all four corners of the planet.
 
He is trying his best to frighten everyone. It is tactical.

Russians will take him out before destruction. China will not let him destroy the west either as we are too important to their economy. No Europe, then where the feck does the wealth come from. A radioactive europe is no good to anyone, including Russia and China. Putin is on thin ice. His kids school in Holland ffs.
 
He's going to do what he did in Georgia: bomb the hell out of it - it's all he knows.. the hammer..

He'll do the same in Ukraine, hopefully Ukraine will get arms to defend themselves & maybe counter.. maybe China will have a loud word in his ear..

Not sure that is NATOs main worry. They'd extinguish russian aggression as soon as possible, and deal with any aftermath later. But I don't think it would come to this.

Great post and summing up.
I hope your right because he has a massive ego and taking just the eastern provinces would be a huge climb down but he hasn’t really got any other options because even if he eventually took Ukraine main cities they wouldn’t have the personnel and troops to keep peace and would be a disaster

Be great if someone in his cabinet (or 4-5 of them) realised his massive errors and had the balls to stand upto him….
Which I’m convinced they must be plotting given these biting sanctions and the companies worldwide deserting Russia

It’s unlikely that Sweden and Finland will be attacked, but what if?
the world watches on as these countries are decimated?
 
I work with a lovely Georgian lady who's family live in Middlesbrough. Her attitude is f him he took 25% of their country without any come back.
