Signed by Bryan Robson in July 1998, leaving us in 2003 to join Coventry City, he then went on to play for a good number of clubs around the UK, including abroad, with stints in Cyprus, New Zealand, then he came back to the North East to finish his career at Thornaby, I didnt realise that, until checking through my registerted players

He also had a brief stint with Guisborough Town. I remember him scoring a thunderbolt free-kick in one of the away games.

I woukd have thought with Dean Gordon from the London area & us buying him from Palace, I thought once his career was finishing he would resettle down south & play in the local league teams down there, after all the clubs he played for to finish at Thornaby back in the NE I was suprised

Don't forget that his son is doing quite well now, so that is probably why he settled round here whilst he grew up

There’s also the fact that whatever money he had when he retired goes a lot further up here than it does in London.

It’s surprising how many ex pros retire to Teesside, North Yorkshire and Durham, but the quality of life you can give yourself up here must be very attractive to people who have friends and possibly investments in the area.

A really nice guy. I was at Derby when he picked up that injury, playing out of position. Good player, but never quite the same.

I thought he was a quality player, had a cracking shot. Remember him on the decks in HMV too! Didn’t he get a bad injury and wasn’t quite the same again? Wish him well wherever he is.

Remember his scoring in a 1-0 home win over Chelsea, when El Tel was our manager, sure it was his 1st Boro goal too, think I have the sports gazette

Indeed. Kav, Christie, Harte etc aren’t from Teesside but have settled here.

I think it was more likely to be his last goal as he had been here a few years before this. His Man U goal in the Bernie bum in Binns was a couple of years before this
