Darren Bond - should be reffing League 2 next week

I thought he favoured them all game - typified by his blowing for full time when we were mid-attack - bizarre. The missed pen on Greenwood was shockingly blatant - and how the linesman didn't clock it I'll never know. Ditto their keeper taking out Rodgers.

Hopefully, he'll be rightly criticised when the Refs Association fellows analyse his performance from this game. He needs some time to reflect while he's reffing at Walsall and Accrington.

He was an absolute disgrace and allowed Rotherham to bring the game down to 70's tactics.

How the foul on Jones didn't warrant a yellow is baffling.

The time wasting in the second half wasn't properly accounted for and blowing for full time when he did shows his bias.

It's not hard to understand why some people feel certain teams get a better result better rub of the green with referee decisions. We have had shockers all season.

I thought he was appalling but I can't understand the criticism hes getting for blowing the whistle when we were on the attack. Surely he should blow the whistle when the time allotted is up? What is happening at the point shouldn't have any bearing on it.

Technically doesn’t, he has to make a motion towards the ball rather than touch it. He looks on to me in that still anyway
Impossible to tell from that angle, but the defenders will always eat the benefit of doubt in this league.

I'm SW upper...the pull on Greenwood after the crap backpass was absolutely blatant. I cannot understand how that is not seen.

I don't disagree that the quality of refereeing is inconsistent at best but there's a lot of sour grapes here.

The ref is the lead in a team of people charged with officiating the game. The linesman calls the line and made the mistake on the disallowed goal. The Greenwood incident (if referring to the coming together with keeper) wasn't a pen for me but I can't defend the push on Jones.

The reality is that we should be moving the ball quickly and not allowing them the time to get all players behind the ball. Those things relating to ref decisions happen to all teams across the season and have done forever.

We can all ask and hope for better quality when it comes to officiating. I think the club should make representations about some of the mistakes made for sure. But would you want to swap what we have for the farce that is VAR?

Not for me

It looked onside in real time.

The question I always ask is would it have stood if the opposition scored? Like Hughill being offside twice in their goal build up but not spotted even though it was quite near the linesman.

You never know with the refs these days, and I suppose we will never find out quite why these strange refereeing performances keep happening even with the invigilators watching.

VAR must be brought in across the board, eventually the refs will have to run it properly.

1st half. Defender underhits very short back pass. Pulls Greenwood back. 100% penalty. Take a look at the header pic on the BBC report.

Carrick says theirs was offside and ours was on-side.
I trust him.
The ref looked like he was waiting for early retirement.
Anyway, it's history now.

It’s not sour grapes from me, referees just like players make mistakes all the times an offside call can go for and against you.

VAR doesn’t solve that. Bond let a very limited player like Hugill injure Jones he showed his incompetence then.

Hugill has significantly made it harder for us on Tuesday I hope I never see Bond referee another match again.

People already complain about the size of our gates. Imagine what it will be like when people stop going because of VAR.
