Bit harsh on Hayden that.
So he doesn't shoot, score, assist, tackle, block, but makes the odd interception?Barlaser's passing stats are much better than Howson's but slightly behind Hackney's. He has 2 assists, one from a corner and one from open play. Crooks has 5. Then we have a whole host of players on 2 assists including Forss and Silvera who have hardly played. So he is barely an assist machine.
Passing stats. Best just to consider the CMs in this as these vary widely by position. CBs usually have the best completion stats with more attacking players having the worst stats. It stands to reason that the further up the pitch you get, the more difficult it is to complete a pass.
Passes/90 mins
Barlaser - 77.4 (Completion Rate - 85.1%)
Hackney - 67.8 (Completion Rate - 87.1%)
Howson - 54.2 (Completion Rate - 81.4%)
So he has 10 passes/match more than Hackney but that doesn't tell you the whole story. Barlaser on average gains 12 passes/match from deadballs whereas Hackney only has 2passes/match from deadballs. So they both average 65 passes/match from open play with Hackney having the better completion rate.
Shooting Stats
Howson and Hackney both have 1 goal and Barlaser hasn't scored.
Hackney has had 16 shots (4 on target)
Howson has had 6 shots (1 on target)
Barlaser has had 3 shots (0 on target)
Now for balance let's put the Defensive Stats up. And this is where Barlaser really struggle
Tackles
Hackney - 28
Howson - 18
Barlaser - 8
Blocks
Hackney - 26
Howson - 13
Barlaser - 2
Interceptions
Hackney - 6
Barlaser - 9
Howson - 12
Obviously stats only tell you part of the picture and I'm posting mainly just to put the facts up.

possibility because the last thing we need is Fry playing it out lolIve said numerous times this season that he looks like hes dwindling but he didn't cost us two goals.
He was very isolated in the middle. I don't agree with the tactics that Carrick employed playing Barlaser so deep and splitting the centre backs but I think he only did that to give Barlaser the time he needs on the ball.
Barlasser looks like he doesn’t want to be here for me.Sell for me, doesn't look like he's cut out for it.
We'll be needing multiple midfielders in the summer, even if we keep Hackney.
How did he play? Missed the game today, first one this season I’ve missed either being there or watching itStarts today, hopefully he silences a select few today.
He played quite well, it’s clear to see that carrick is developing his position and it’s very very deep. He made some really nice passes which a couple of times we should have done better. How did he play? Missed the game today, first one this season I’ve missed either being there or watching it
Nice oneHe played quite well, it’s clear to see that carrick is developing his position and it’s very very deep. He made some really nice passes which a couple of times we should have done better.
He's clearly been asked to play super deep.. almost as another centre half ..
He gets the ball , so we move to a three with either Dijksteel or bangura over loading.
He's trusted that much to retain the ball ( with what we've got right now )
He maybe limited athletically, and destructive defensively.
But he doesn't go hiding in wanting the ball, he keeps possession well , and he pulled the strings on the goal today.
He's better than his pricetag
I don’t get the negativity about Barlaser ? There is definitely a good player in there for me.
Carrick was played as a deep lying continuity type midfielder and one who retained the ball really well. He obviously is trying to develop Barlaser into this type of player. This suits the possession based approach we are developing and Barlaser gets to learn from a guy who was very very good at that role.
Maybe also gives us an option to switch to a 3 midfield if we need to. ( Hackney Barlaser O’Brien ) I’d be happy with that
Football cliché #376 - Barlaser is being asked to play the "Quarterback" role in the team. Sit in front of the back 4, spray the ball around and dictate play.
Mixed success imo, as at times the midfield is over run especially as 2 of the "3" aren't renowned for their defensive capabilities.
Being fair to the lad, he's rocketed to the top of the boo boy charts. Sailed past Mcgree, Silvera, McNair, Engel, Jones, Greenwood, Fry.......
