I am sure we can find a better player than Dan Barlaser. If Lewis O’Brien comes back soon there’s one straight away.
Mowatt was 3 times the player Barlaser will ever be too.

A real mix of impressive vision and basic errors. To become part of things long term his intensity needs to step up for me. Did deliver one great ball into Crooks 2nd half

It’s the basic errors I can’t see past. He has one or 2 shocking mistakes every game and it’s costing us. His strengths aren’t good enough to outweigh the weaknesses either sadly

He is terrible off the ball in defensive positions and is a liability with the ball in our own half. Would be a great player as the advanced MF in a central 3 but in our formation he has more downside than up for me.

If we sell then who is going to get the blame for all our defeats, as that seems to be the role he's playing with many fans at the moment.

I don't disagree, i think he has got something about him, but the errors and lack of real midfield grafts are by far the dominating factors at the moment

I don't think he's good enough at the moment. I think next season we're going to see a completely different midfield to what we have now. Hackney sold, Howson possibly retired or being phased out. Barlaser definitely not going to be the man we build a midfield around. Need to sign two centre mids next summer for me
He'll be replaced if we can sell. He only plays when we have no other option really. He was 4th choice last season behind Hackney, Howson and Mowatt and he's 4th choice this season behind Hackney, Howson and O'Brien. He's just getting a lot more game time due to the injuries.
He's not right for the system. Too frail defensively. Wants too much time on the ball. Capable of a good range of passing when given time in games like Preston and teams just sit in but as soon as anyone presses us he resorts to tapping the ball backwards and ends up getting caught out with sloppy passes.
I don't think Carrick rates him but he's all he's got to work with at the moment unless there's another hackney kicking about the youth team.

If Hackney is sold, Howson leaves on a free, Barlaser sold then we will need to sign 4 midfielders surely?

I think it’s time to drop Crooks back one personally and try him deeper if There isn’t any young lads capable. We can’t continue with Barlaser. It’s just not working. Crooks has been poor last couple of games too but a shift to what he says is his favourite position might just work for all parties right now
It's hard isn't it because we don't know how far players are away from fitness. No idea if Hackney is days, weeks or months away from his return.
The 3 month timeline on o-Brien takes him to January but whether that is still on course, who knows?
Surely they are lining up a CM signing or loan in January to get straight in.
