Dan Barlaser

Remember the Howson, Crooks, Mowatt 3. The most dynamic midfield in the history of championship football.
Things were very wrong at the club for a lot of reasons at that point.

Rewind 6 months earlier and Tav, Howson and Crooks were playing excellent

He’s the current boo boy and victim of our so called fans blame culture.

It’s always the same people, blame Barlaser, McNair, Crooks etc.

He looks great when we’re 4-0 up (Preston at home last season if I remember rightly) but sadly I don’t think he’s a player you can rely on in CM, either attacking or defensively.

Finally getting home last night from my 124 mile trip from the Boro match, I then started reading some of the posts on the site, I could not believe some of the cr*p some of our supporters were saying about Barlasers performance.

He was not our worst player last night by a long way, and yet he was targeted by some mindless supporters.

Barlaser, is playing in a more defensive role, with Howson the more advanced, I don't think that suits his style or game at all.

He had a great assist record when playing for Rotherham, and would be better suited playing in more advanced position, where he can hurt teams with his passing ability.

The problem with our team at the moment, is we have too many average players in the team, however Barlaser is not one of them.

Did you walk home?

The fact you have highlighted his positives at Rotherham says it all.

As I said not a bad player but it’s not worked here. He was appalling last night btw.

I didn't realise you still lived in Rotherham Dan

Here's some Dan Barlaser info.

Best run of clean sheets, Barlaser in the side. Most goals scored in a match, Barlaser in the side. Most goals shipped, Barlaser not in the side.

What take he gave the ball away didn’t provide support and generally was t very good.
Who didn't give the ball away last night, it was like a pin ball at times.

He set up a great chance, was asked to play a very deep role with the full backs pushed on. He was part of a midfield two that dominated the centre of the pitch.

What did you expect him to do from the holding role with that forward 4?

He may have gave the ball away, who didn't, but the play consistently went through him. I don't look at stats but I bet he made more successful passes than most on the pitch.

The reason for defeat was concentration defensively. If Engel defends properly, we dont give the corner away and concede the first. Not sure how that's on Barlaser.

He'll be out the team as soon as there's someone else available. And he'll bring someone in to push him down the pecking list further.

Because he's not good enough.
