Dan Barlaser

Just teasing as you were the OP.
I was but I also gave him the man of the match yesterday and credited a superb performance. It is possible to do both things.

It’s also possible to suggest which @FabioPorkpie did that whilst Barlaser did perform excellent he has had a few stinkers hence there has been criticism from me and others. I’m not the type of person who only sees it one way though and if he performs well I will credit him every time he does. Best game in a Boro shirt by a long way yesterday. Hope he continues on this path.

Let me answer the question put my the OP in post 1. No. We don’t sell. The reason is obvious and demonstrated yesterday.

The reality is he’s had more poor games than good games. If he can keep performing like he did yesterday then he will have turned it around. Hopefully he can continue in that vein as he was great yesterday. But he has had some shockers for us.

I'm not sure that's true though, at least since we recovered from our terrible start.
Cardiff, Sunderland, Birmingham, Preston, Swansea, WBA all good or very good.
Leeds, Hull, Stoke poor.
Then all the cup games he's been very good in as well. That's far more games he's played well in than not.
I think people remember the bad games far more than the good ones.

Whether we've always thought he was good, or we think he is improving out of sight, it's all good for us as Boro fans.

Have a great Christmas.

I wouldn’t sell if he keeps playing this way. Suppose Howson may not be here too. Hopefully Hackney is but he’s gonna have massive interest probably and bids coming in.

I hope Barlaser makes me look silly.

I think he performed ok in most of them games not particularly really good. I think Cardiff and Preston he was good and West Brom outstanding. I missed the Swansea game so can’t comment there tbf, but the rest just ok or poor.

Yesterday is the one for me, I’m not expecting him to perform like that every game far from it. But what he did do yesterday was cut out silly mistakes. He was right at the top of his game. If he shows this form then he’s gonna be really good for us.

You can spend the petrol money you were going to use driving him away (even overseas I seem to recall) to get his name printed above the number 4 on the back of your Boro shirt mate
I might have said he was shyte.. and should go play in Serie A

If I’m getting a name on the back of a shirt.. I’d have to go for ENGEL 27 - what a guy!

But yeah.. dropped a bollokc with Barlaser.. first bad call since.. Marc Bola

I’m still proud if my otherwise impeccable reccord.

Sorry Dan.. I wuz wrong.. big time.

I thought he was excellent again today until he understandably ran out of steam after about 60 mins.

Calm on the ball in what was a very frenetic game, and is now showing more athleticism in his game than I thought he was capable of… a few time he burst away from players and carried the ball 30-40 yards up the pitch

Defended better today.

Won a few good challenges.

They did a good job of making the short pass out of the back to Howson/Barlaser difficult (like we did with Villa/Chelsea) - some of his passing is superb.

There was one first time pass down the left channel which was world-class - Maddo was purring. Not only that, second half he was really in the thick of it, battling through, riding challenges.

The guy's quality. His only fault is getting a nosebleed whenever he gets the chance to shoot. He literally needs therapy for it, like I said on another thread. If I was his coach I would have him doing repetitions all week, getting shots off around the box: bang, hit it Dan!

I’ve not been convinced by Barlaser, but I reserved judgement because it’s hard for a player to find a rhythm when they’re in and out of the team.

Think he’s had two very good performances this week. Today in particular, I thought he was excellent.
