Dan Barlaser

Chubz and Hackers were obviously full of good grub and Fizz last night plus journey home from that London . They just filled bench tonight . I was chatting with me auld man through the match and I told him that and was sure Rodders would get on pitch tonight before either of them . He wasn't sure but applauded me when my thoughts were made correct . Carrick wrapping big guns in cotton wool at mo . We have no need to risk them and also playing the fools game with Luton . Great coach he is . Learnt off the best remember . Been in similar situations throughout his career . I dare say he quite sure how play offs are gonna pan out ... touch wood .
There was a guy behind us last night who seemed very knowledgeable about Chuba. He could have been a mate or a relative but it was apparent that Chuba had had a couple of drinks at the event. I think it was obvious that MC had already told him he wouldn’t feature against Luton and instead enjoy himself.

Just awaiting the post saying hes teetotal

Surprised that Barlaser seems to be coming in for a bit of stick on social media.

I thought he played very well.

Though Barlaser was excellent love the way he opens his body up to show for the ball at times he looked a level above with his composure and passing. With mcgree injured i thought we missed Hackney on the left as bolo was poor but very happy with mowatt and Barlaser in the midldle.

Barlaser did well last night.
He's had limited game time here and i can only see him getting better.

Stuff like these two tweets, probably a minority but still weird to see.

I thought Barlaser offered plenty of dangerous balls.
There's always one or two idiots to be found, but that Tom gets called out in pretty much all of the responses. 91% pass success from Barlaser, from 89 passes. Excellent performance.

Think he doesn’t drink as a norm.
NORM!

Thought the whole team was really good last night. Fair enough Bola misplaced a few passes but he hasn't been a starter in ages and was in an unfamiliar role.

I loved how they retained possession, attacked with purpose and gave it a damn good go, only to be done by a horrific decision.

Absolutely no complaints from me, I was furious but not at our players, I was proud of them

Agree. Finishing was awful, but we played some excellent controlled football all over the pitch.

63% possession and Steffen had nothing to do apart from pick the ball out of his net twice 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

This with 5 changes and our best player not even on the pitch👍

Even then he shouldn't have been picking it out! Never a pen and the first was a good header!

Boro Twitter is a difficult read these days, mainly faceless fan accounts who tend to just give extreme opinions one way or the other depending on the result. Giving it out to opposition fans as well, I just don't see the point.

Most of the top footballers don't I expect. It's a game of small margins and extreme fitness, and booze is one big way to handicap yourself, by a large margin and no doubt they all get told this at youth level, and hopefully most listen.

I don't mean they're all teetotal mind, but I bet most never drink or only drink a few times a year and don't get hammered etc.

Not like the old days where people who got drunk all the time could be decent, in the UK anyway, those players/ teams would get hammered nowadays.

Even the uni and college lot don't seem to drink anywhere near what I drank at that age, good on em.

He's the best boro midfielder I've seen for a long time at finding space in tight areas, passing and moving and never gets flustered etc. He is extremely tidy/ great technique and his passing ability and range is unreal.

Not sure how it's going to work with him and Hackey mind, I suppose they're competing for the same place/ position and Howson and Mowatt the other.

We're still going to need a Howson replacement unless we can coach Hackney and Barlaser into better ball-winners.

Akpom, Ramsey, Forss, McGree, Hackney, Fry, McNair, Smith all missing and did not make the pitch.
Howson playing out of position.

Yet we dominated the match.

Regulars Lenihan, Howson, Archer, Giles and Steffen all did very well and stayed fit.
The lads who came in were all excellent.
Dijksteel, Mowatt, Barlaser, Crooks and Bola all did very well.
For me Dijksteel should play now.
Mowatt and Barlaser complimented each other well.
Sure Bola gave the ball away, but also made some fantastic passes from a very unfamiliar role.
I was so impressed with how we dominated yet another game, against the team that will finish third on their own ground.

I love what Carrick is doing.
