I like the fact he's always on the front foot. Not a sideways and backwards player like many we've had in the past. He would probably be the first to admit that his Boro career hasn't got off to the best of starts. The comments I saw from Rotherham fans when he left tell me he will come good once he's settled in. Some of them were saying he was one of their best ever players.

Like others have said many criticised McGree and Lenihan initially. Look at them now, key players for us. Hopefully Barlaser will be the same.

I don’t feel like I criticised McGree or Lenihan tbh

Barlaser doesn't seem quick enough, pace wise and passing wise. When he’s under pressure his passing doesn’t seem up to scratch. Very much a ‘Hollywood Ball’ player.. with time on the ball he will pull off a great pass and admire it for a few seconds afterwards.

Top dog at Rotherham, very much in the shadow of Howson at Boro

I didn't criticise them either. Just remember there were quite a few negative comments flying around in the early stages of their Boro careers.

With Barlaser, when he has featured it's generally been from the bench so I don't think we should be too harsh on him and write him off just yet. He was poor tonight but he wasn't the only one.

He looked WAY off the pace.. good championship midfielder.. top stats assist wise..
Looked out of place in a high pace tough and ready hoe down

Let’s be honest the whole team was off the boil tonight, yes he didn’t improve us, but he also didn’t make us worse.
Must be difficult to get up to speed when he is hardly involved, week in week out.

Definitely had a poor game last night. But he will come good I'm sure. Howson can't play 90 minutes every game from now until the end of the season.

Disagree completely. He made 2 defensive interventions that stopped goals, and was always taking risks with his passes on the front foot. 2 quality deliveries into the box provided some of our only 2nd half chances. Yes he gave the ball away but he provided more legs in that 2nd half. Hackney had a poor game by his high standards and Howson faded obviously by half time.

Barlaser should start a run of games for me, we need his set piece quality.

Was surprised to not see Mowatt make an appearance last night, especially when he's keeping Muniz off the bench as the 5th matchday squad loanee and Hackney was having a poor game.

I thought Finch looked incredibly raw, I'd have rather Muniz was given a chance if Mowatt wasn't being used.

Most of the set pieces he’s took so far have went straight to the keeper. He took one last night exactly the same sadly. For whatever reason he doesn’t seem to be getting much purchase on the ball whether that’s in open play from a set piece. He does need time to settle though I agree, and I think he will benefit from a start rather than being a sub. Not sure when that start is coming though.

He took the one for Paddy’s miss. Which was our best chance in that 2nd half, don’t think the lino would have flagged.

Worrying start to his Boro career. Surely he’s better than he’s shown so far.

We got worse for his introduction.
I think as McGree showed and Akpom to a certain extent it is sometimes difficult for a player to suddenly slot in from the bench like he has been doing so far. Think we have to have patience with certain players.

Barlaser has shown he has the quality (2nd best assister in the league) so am prepared to give him some time to adjust.

Me too. But defiently think there is no time in assessing what we have seen so far. I’m hopeful he can prove his best soon. Maybe Hackney needs a rest on Saturday.

There were 2 occasions defensively he stopped the ball falling to them for a tap in. A spent Howson wouldn’t have been there you have to feel. I think he will be an important player in this run in and we should utilise him more.

Ah fair play forgot he took that one, yeah that was decent. The one I’m thinking off he took from the opposite side

Can remember folks saying the same and worse about Howson when he joined. A good omen IMO
Really don’t get the point in comments like this. Judging it how we see it. Rather than comments like this, have you been impressed so far? If yes, explain and I will chat to you about it

Some players specialise in 'impact' off the bench and some just have to start games.

Also, did we break the bank to sign Barlaser?
